They offer memberships and play home games in Canberra because they are a Canberra and Western Sydney team

GWS is a name.
Fremantle does not play in Fremantle.
West Coast does not play at West Coast.
P.A. does not play at P.A.
Adelaide didn't used to play at Adelaide.
Only Geelong and Melbourne play at their home grounds in Victoria.

GWS plays in WS and Canberra - FACT

Both of you.

GWS offer memberships Australia wide. So do the other clubs.

Richmond play games in Cairns. Does that make them a Cairns team? No. Hawthorn in Launceston? No. North Melbourne in Hobart? No. GWS in Canberra? No as well.

Fremantle play in Perth. That is where Fremantle is. Perth is on the West Coast. The Eagles play on the West Coast. Port Adelaide play in Adelaide as do Adelaide, and always did even at AAMI Stadium. All the Melbourne based clubs play in Melbourne.

Canberra do not have an AFL team any more than Cairns, Launceston, Hobart or even Darwin do. That's all that needs to be said.

Hawthorn and NM up to four games in Tassie.
Fremantle is NOT in Perth.
WCE are moveing to EAST PERTH. (not on the coast)
P.A. is NOT in Adelaide.
Westlakes is NOT in Adelaide.
NM, Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn, WB, Essendon, St kilda are NOT in Melbourne.

GWS have said that Canberra IS a part of GWS and they play more games there than merged nrl teams do.
NM looks like it might be the new Tassie side.

GWS has a CANBERRA JUMPER specifically for Canberra.

To the fumblers .
If I live in Canberra ,where do I go to watch my team train?

:(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/

Direct me to which suburb they train at during the week.

:(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ :(/ .

They are not a Canberra team .
They are to use Cos logic a FIFO out .
Therefore they are not a home team ..
& please can you idiots tell me how many of the team actually live in Canberra.

Im pretty sure that Lions players live in Brissy.
Suns players live on the GC.

Yet no player lives in Canberra..

But let's not delude ourselves ... Canberra does not have an AFL team. Goodness, Canberra can barely support an nrl team

It'a quite safe to say that like most AFL clubs the majority of supporters don't live within the traditional boundaries of their namesake region..
So the Collingwood club represents the club as an entity rather than a geographical representation.

In this regard GWS actually is one of the best for representing a geographical area. GWS represents WS to Canberra.
Others would be Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Geelong and GC. Note that these ARE large geographical areas.
Most of the AFL and nrl clubs have supporters outside of the traditional boundaries of the their namesake region.

The nrl fairs a little better as some clubs have regional titles like Eastern Suburbs and South Sydney.
But the nrl also has mergers that have confused identities as the dragons and tigers and no obvious home.

Well it is possible for Brisbane players to live on the Gold Coast and vice versa. But where a player lives has nothing to do with it.

Where they train on the other hand is a very valid point. And it should be pointed out that it's the regular training venue and not any special ones (example - when a Melbourne AFL club travels interstates, or when a Sydney NRL club does likewise).

Hang on you said that the NRL was National because they PLAY a couple of games in Darwin, Perth, Adelaide and Tassy - now your contradicting that by saying a team's regular training base defines a team - if so then your argument that RL is a National competition cannot be possibly be right as it's the clubs training venues are the only relevant factor - you can't have it both ways - either your wrong about GWS or NRL is not a National competition but a NSW based competition with a few clubs based outside NSW!!!!! Either way your wrong!

Comprehension fail once again.

You are arguing 2 different things.
Firstly the claim was made that the AFL was National because they played games in Tassie Darwin etc.

I said so does the NRL,they play in areas they don't have a team.

The Argument with COS is about Canberra .
He claims that the WEST SYDNEY :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<> Giants are Canberras HOME team. .
They are not .
See the difference.

If the Midgets were Canberras AFL team then where can I go to watch them train on Weeknights??

WTF is wrong with you fumblers .
You seem to lack basic comprehension skills.

1st if you want to argue about comprehension see who I was posting to - it was Cracker not you

2nd I didn't say AFL was national, its the AUSTRALIAN football league - only the RL has the arogance to claim to be a NATIONAL comp where merely an expanded NSW competition.

3rd I NEVER claimed GWS is a Canberra team - and for the record I don't but having regular games in Canberra and having fans there is OK IMO - the market is just not big enough to support a full time club there - I don't want them to be a joke of a club like the snot green raiders!

Lastly the point of my post is aimed at an argument of Cracker that the NRL is a NATIONAL competition because they play some exhibition matches for points in Perth, Darwin, Adelaide and Hobart while arguing that the Giants dont represent Canberra because they train in West Sydney! (FFS Cracker be consistant in your argument). Yet you AGAIN thought I was having a crack at you - hence why I often call you paranoid and narcasistic! FFS get rid of the chip on your shoulder - are the majority of QLD people like you? No wonder Jo (the ex Nazi) was priemer for so long! :_<> :_<> :_<> :_<>

No I said they are national because they play in more than one state. Three states and one territory, compared to five states and no territories for the AFL. Neither cover all states and territories. That was my original point.

So I am not wrong. Are you suggesting that the Storm, the Raiders, the Broncos, the Titans and the Cowboys are not a substantive part of the competition? And I didn't even mention the Warriors simply because they aren't an Australian team.
