Re: Ticket prices for AFL v NRL

Something else worth pointing out. The concession prices for children are cheaper with the AFL.
How about comparing the most expensive NRL tickets, the Broncos, to the most expensive AFL team, the Eagles....214Four wrote:Xman, depending what figures are used, this can be manipulated to show whatever the 'researcher' wants the results to pan out, I am sure you know this though...Xman wrote:For too long Dave has peddled the absurd excuse that AFL crowds are larger because the ticket prices are dirt cheap. So its time to settle this once and for all with a comparison:
NRL:
Game: Bulldogs v Sharks http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/Sh ... xpgG_mSyAl
Venue: ANZ stadium
Prices for GA: adult $25, Child $10, Family (4): $50
Prices for Category 1: adult $45, Child $25, Family: $95
AFL:
Game: Richmond v Carlton http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/sh ... xpjsvmSyAk
Venue: MCG
Prices for GA: adult $25, Child $5, Family: $50
Prices for category 1: adult $60, Child $20, Family: $149
AFL:
Game: C Eagles v Bulldogs http://www.AFL.com.au/tickets/venues/simonds-stadium
Venue: Simonds stadium
Prices for GA: adult $30.75, child $3.90, Family NA
Prices for Category 1: adult $84.75, child $34.70, Family NA
So it looks like the AFL tickets are actually significantly more expensive on average.
Any comments Dave???
But for other forumers (don't worry NRLCrapper I'm not going to mention you) here is what I mean...
AFL:
Game: GWS vs Melbourne https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/checkou ... KL9h0vaqbg
Venue: Spotless Stadium
Prices for GA: adult $27, child $6, Family (2A+2C) $55 or $13.75ea
Prices for Category 1: adult $43, child $21, Family $21 or $24.75ea
NRL:
Game: Broncos v Roosters http://premier.ticketek.com.au/shows/sh ... x2A6zIaySM
Venue: Suncorp stadium
Prices for GA: adult $29, Child $10, Family (1A + 1C): $35 or $17.50ea
Prices for Category 1: adult $52, Child $27, Family: $67 or $33.50ea
My results show the complete opposite to what Xmans did, how odd.....
Thats well known and clever by the AFL. It encourages attendance by children who then become supporters as adults.Cracker wrote:Something else worth pointing out. The concession prices for children are cheaper with the AFL.

I originally compared the NRL at ANZ to the AFL at the MCG. A fair comparison wouldn't you say?214Four wrote:you just re-affirmed the point i was making...Xman wrote:How about comparing the most expensive NRL tickets, the Broncos, to the most expensive AFL team, the Eagles....214Four wrote:Xman, depending what figures are used, this can be manipulated to show whatever the 'researcher' wants the results to pan out, I am sure you know this though...Xman wrote:For too long Dave has peddled the absurd excuse that AFL crowds are larger because the ticket prices are dirt cheap. "the AFL is at least as expensive as the NRL to attend" yes i agree with that statement.Xman wrote:Yeah, good one214Four wrote:^^^

So you agree the AFL is at least as expensive as the NRL to attend, and on average probably more expensive when all categories and grounds are taken into account?
This excludes finals of course where the AFL is far more expensive to attend than the NRL
The entire ground isnt members you clown! :_<>Raiderdave wrote:Xman wrote:Thats well known and clever by the AFL. It encourages attendance by children who then become supporters as adults.Cracker wrote:Something else worth pointing out. The concession prices for children are cheaper with the AFL.

(refering to AFL) "average probably more expensive when all categories and grounds are taken into account" yeh it seems like there are on average but i have only looked at the prices from the games you posted and the ones i did lol. so currently from the 5 or so ticket prices i have seen thus far yes i agree.
What constitutes a "small percentage"?Xman wrote:Thats well known and clever by the AFL. It encourages attendance by children who then become supporters as adults.Cracker wrote:Something else worth pointing out. The concession prices for children are cheaper with the AFL.
But as the prices show, the AFL on average is more expensive than the NRL, given kids under 14 only make up a small percentage of the crowd. Agree?
