Seven's AFL Grand Final ratings were boosted by big numbers in Sydney where 740,000 fans watch the Swans hold the Premiership cup aloft. - See more at: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/entertainme ... 6tyIZ.dpuf

The game was the highest-rating television program in Melbourne for the year and rated well in Sydney, where it had an average audience of 610,000.
AFL chief operating officer Gillon McLachlan described the Sydney figures as "a huge number" that equated to a prime-time rating. "Our ratings and attendance figures for the finals series have been spectacular, up 20 per cent in each category from last year," McLachlan said.

That follows a home-and-away increase in ratings of 12 per cent. "I think it's a tribute to our broadcasters for their quality of coverage, particularly in the first year of games being telecast live against the gate," McLachlan said.

...The grand final drew 2.95 million metropolitan viewers nationally and a regional audience of 1.1 million.

It was the third most watched metropolitan television program for the year.

This year's figure bettered last year's grand final by 450,000, and was just behind the most watched best recent final _ 4.2 million in 2006 _ the Swans' previous grand final appearance.

In Melbourne, the match attracted 1.33 million and 1.4 million watched the post-game presentations. The coverage received a further 73,000 viewers on pay-TV for its 6.30pm replay.

The first week of the AFL finals series drew 5.949 million viewers across four games featuring clubs from four states, which was up almost one million on the corresponding four games in the first weekend of NRL finals, which involved clubs from three states.

The two AFL semi-finals attracted a national audience of 3.799 million, compared with the NRL's 2.92 million. In the second week of the AFL finals, Collingwood-West Coast drew 1.98 million viewers and Adelaide-Fremantle drew 1.8 million.

The national figure for the AFL's preliminary finals was 4.23 million, compared with the NRL's total of 3.3 million.

The Sydney-Collingwood preliminary final drew 2.23 million national viewers and the Hawthorn-Adelaide preliminary final attracted 2.06 million. The Swans' preliminary final win over the Magpies was the highest-rating match of the season at that stage, higher than every match of the 2011 season, except the grand final.

On the same weekend in the NRL, the Storm-Sea Eagles preliminary final pulled 1.78 million viewers, and 1.5 million watched the Bulldogs-Rabbitohs clash.

Prior to last night's NRL grand final, the first eight NRL finals drew a combined national audience of 11.21 million.

its a made up game. they didnt lose a game of ARs to Ireland. Unlike the Kangawhos who cant even beat a tiny country with little interest in RL
LITTLE INTEREST??? I said this before! If there was that level of interest there wouldn't be a New Zealand Warriors RLFC!!!!
the Warriors are part of the Australias RL comp. Not NZ. The Kiwis love RU, but theyre pretty indifferent to RL
If they were indifferent THERE WOULD BE NO WARRIORS!!!

God, you are so freaking STUPID!!

NZ's TV audience was on Pay TV which makes it even more impressive than the swans 700k on FTA in Sydney.
