I think it is very unfair of the League people to criticize the AFL participants. We need to understand that the AFL has very little experience in picking "representative" players and it shows.
That or the AFL dont care for a contest that compares a single player from each sport.

Hodge and Ling were one of the biggest guys on the show and theyre just average sized midfielders in our sport. Were the winners average sized in their sports? Hardly.

look its quite clear

if a TV show called ... Australias greatest half marathon run for footballers ... but thats it .. no power or agility events included
... was put on

our skinny little VFL runt players would probably win

as thats all they have
pick up a dumbell or cover 40m in 5 secs ..... as we know .. female netballers would beat them

and if there was a contest called Australias most overweight and immobile athletes the NRL would win hands down. Youve won with Slater only. Where are the rest of your overweight loserrs?

Who the hell is Inglish? :-k

As I said, put some of your overweight forwards on next time and lets see how they fair. The show favours smaller leaner athletes and they've done better every year.

This thread needed to be created / split from the NRL to reap $1.2b from TV rights thread as it doesn't appear to have anything to do with tv rights from the OP onwards. It's moreso about skills required in the AFL and NRL from what I can gather.

Dogs please feel free to change the title of the thread if you like by clicking the edit button within your first post in this thread.

Carry on people.

Raiderdave why are u calling the AFL VFL??

Buddy Franklin, Nick Nat, and many others would easily eclipse Inlish. But that's not the pnt. The point is the results have favored smaller leaner contestants, irrespective of the sport. Look how lote tiqiri did. wasn't he a RL player? Look how Wendell sailor did? wasn't he an NRL player.

Buddy Frannklin... Nic Natanui... vs Inglis?

Speed/100metre sprint: Inglis by 1.5-2.5 seconds
Strength/any test: Inglis by a country mile. The comparison between a lion and a domestic cat would be appropriate here
Agility/sideways movement test + other agility tests: A little closer but Inglis comfortably
Skill: difficult to test as the skills required are quite different for both sports. Gotta be fair and say equal here. they're all at the top of their respective sports for a reason.

I've seen a lot of both codes and am very confident of the above assessment. Very confident. :)
