Jesus fooly how thick are you .
Soccer is broadcast FTA on SBS .
If you are a sokka fan you will watch .
Apparently not many do
Do you think if AFL or NRL were on SBS ,then fans wouldn't watch because they don't like SBS.
Bullshit excuse.
It is on a FRI night same as AFL or NRL in winter.
No excuses ,
.

About the only time I watch sbs is when they have had a small bit of rl on it like an aboriginal knockout comp or something similar, I don't really watch much tv anyway tho, just the footy, news a few comedies during the week and maybe a movie once in a while.

The biggest issue for TV audience is no one likes SBS. The A League needs one of the commercial FTA networks to pick it up, and that will be hard because of commercial breaks. It can be done with the NRL, the AFL and the cricket but with soccer it's much more difficult. You and I know that the standard has improved but getting it out into the mainstream is another matter entirely.
Not sure showing it on FTA away from SBS is that much of an issue. Most of us soccer ethnics have no gripes with SBS but obviously that's just based on my anecdotal experience.
Sydney FC beat the Wanderers with crowd average and are elite. Basically you've got Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC and Wanderers in tier 1. Outside of them I'd say the only genuine concerns are Perth and Central Coast. I'm happy with where all the other teams are in attendances. Remember we are coming from a lower base so it needs to be looked at in context of growth and market size (it's unrealistic to compare us with AFL or cricket).
The worrying attendances-
Perth Glory: Have had a consistently shit on-field product for 9 of the A league's 10 seasons, and now that they field a competitive team which plays good football hopefully the punters will slowly come back through the turnstiles but if they are it's a slow process. They're top of the table and last night they only managed 9,660.
Central Coast: Central Coast's attendances have been negatively impacted by Charlesworth's exploring North Sydney as an option for relocation and fielding a very poor team this season. IMO they shouldn't be looking to relocate, they have low overheads at Blue Tongue and can be a successful small team in a salary capped league as they have been in the past.
Will improve:
Not worried about Newcastle, they are extremely poor this season on the field so it's surprising they've had the attendances they've had. Put a competitive soccer team there and I reckon they'd be pulling 15k average. Not worried about Melbourne City either. They've been a poor club pretty much since their recent inception but they are well positioned in a city that loves soccer and have Manchester City's owners now which they will likely benefit from. They'll continue to grow.

Watching the irrelevant train wreck that is the lol league is the highlight of summer.
The inevitable decline into oblivion is hilarious .
The fall from the overhyped start of the season is massive .
But most of all watching the hooligans realising that their sport is going nowhere in this country is the best entertainment .
Every yr the hype ,the media stories of overtaking other sports ,the fans talking it up .
Then reality sets in .
Lol x 1,000,000

Yet year upon year the crowd averages go up, the ratings go up, our league is 10 years old, and we keep on improving. It is fun watching you NRL types squirm because the smart ones know what is coming, you lot however are not in that category.

Have you watched SBS soccer? The coverage is rushed and just terrible. It doesn't do the game justice. Fox Sports treat it with a lot more respect. I know soccer fans who won't watch it on SBS for that reason.
It needs something SBS don't have. Money.

Aleague ratings slump about a week before the BBL season starts - pretty much in line with the december test. They never recover. The BBL ends around round 16-17 and the Aleague ratings jump...and then dive again for the League/AFL preseasons.

Where's Les to explain why Sokka should get big $$$$ for broadcasting games that rate abysmally .
Cold hard facts are it just doesn't rate well & tv execs will laugh when gallop asks for more( read somewhere he wants to double the rights) .
So all the hype ,all the bullshit talk will mean nothing when facts are looked at.
