yes i think you've given us the nuts and bolts of the issues there RD. The sydney siders venturing to melb this weekend are foking out a minimum of around $1200 for:
1. airfare
2. Ticket
3. 2 beers and a pie.
And then they may not even see a result? I too think the AFL should be more honest in their naming and promoting of this day. "Grand - no guarantees you'll see the premier today final" is good but they should be adding "but we'll take upwards of $400 of your hard earned for your visit and a pie anyway..y'all come back now ok

"

A severe blemish on the organisations cred. Add to that the numerous racism debacles and what a horrid year the AFL have had. Unfortunately the fan body just dont seem to have the nouse to confront it.
they don't have any nouse at all E... they are the dumbest sports fans certianly in Australia ... possibly the World
they are asked to pay this sort of money
& do
yet theres no guarantee they will even see the premiers at all on Grand Final day
this moronic sport still has Grand Final Replays

... & its dopey fans allow this

>
something all other sports got rid of decades ago still exists in this sport stuck in the 1960's
If I travelled from interstate ... forked out money for air fares .. hotels ... & $350 for a ticket ... only to be told
ooops
sorry
you'll need to come back again next week :>::
I would be lining up someone to be killed
I would not make that same mistake again & put myself in a position where this could eventuate in other words not attend a Grand final ..until this idiotic ... ridiculous situation was changed.
but all the VFL see is the $$
they know their fans are simpletons ... not too bright ... & so nothing has changed & if scores are locked at the VFL GF ... all those people paying through the teeth
paid for nothing ... as there was nothing .. final.. about the day
If I travelled from Sydney ... I'd be ready to commit murder
no it needs a re gig the name .. it needs to be the VFL " Grand Possible Final ".. or the " Grand No Guarantees You'll see the Premier Today Final

"
if it wasn't so pathetically sad .. it would be hilarious
VFL fans .... as dumb... as they come

the difference is the AFL gf is worth the money. the nrls isnt.

I may grumble about the price of finals tickes but this is the AFL finals. Nothing beats this. As the ad goes, "This is Greatness".

worth every penny to see your team on gf day.
But lets compare: Swans fans get to see their team on TV every week at no cost. Most NRL fans have to pay $1200 for the same coverage. Melbourne Storm fans will have to add another $1000 to fly up to Sydney for their GF, so thats a total of $2200.
I wonder which fan is better of?

Good points. NRL fans are virtually forced to take out a Foxtel subscription just to watch their team on tv. Disgraceful.
Oh well, old Rupert is happy to be still running the show in RL.

you'll F.cken grumble if the scores are locked at fulltime Bearsy & all you saw was a game of flogball

Its happened twice in 100yrs. Id say the chances are very slim. However, Im sure the AFL would enjoy another $50M revenue

Melbourne storm fans travelling to Sydney WILL see the 2012 NRL premiers at the end of our GF
can Sydney Swines fans make the same claim about their trip to Melbourne & VFL GF on Sat ?

it is still possible that it can

AFL fans in Sydney could travel to Melbourne again, and fork out another $1000, and still be the just as well off as Melbourne storm fans. Plus they see an extra game after the first thriller!

Nope. The GF is the biggest match of the year. It shouldnt be decided by some fluke or cheap method like the laughable golden point

. Another full match is the best way to decide the winner. Look at the US open Golf major. A full 18 holes is played the next day and its a great tradition.
So is the AFL GF replay! =D> =D> And the fans LOVE it!
