Blockbuster crowd building
The first day of ticket sales to Friday night's Preliminary Final have been impressive
The first day of ticket sales has seen thousands of tickets sold to Friday night’s Preliminary Final blockbuster between the Sydney Swans and Collingwood at ANZ Stadium.
The member pre-sale, which began at 9:00am this morning, is on track to sell 20,000-plus tickets before this evening’s 9:00pm cut-off.
Sydney Swans Chief Executive Andrew Ireland said the club is thrilled with the early response from Swans’ fans ahead of Friday night’s do-or-die clash with the Pies.
“We are on track to move 20,000-plus tickets today in the pre-sale,” Mr Ireland said.
“This great early response, plus the huge interest shown from approximately 10,000 ANZ Stadium members has set the scene for a blockbuster crowd for Friday night’s game.”
Mr Ireland encouraged all Sydney Swans members to take advantage of the final hours of the membership pre-sale and get on board for Friday night’s home final.
“As a football club we are urging Sydney-siders to get to ANZ stadium and cheer on the Swans in this important game, as the advantage a large home crowd provides cannot be replicated,” he said.
“With only a few hours remaining before tickets are open to the general public, our members should take advantage of their priority purchase option and support the Swans in Friday night’s final.”
Swans members accessing the pre-sale this evening will be required to enter the 12-digit barcode on their 2012 Sydney Swans membership card when prompted to secure their seats for the game.
Tickets will then go on sale to the general public at 12:00 midday on Tuesday through Ticketek.

Where is your source Raider? I'm going by what South Sydney posted on their website. You expect us just to believe you? You have no credibility around these parts when it comes to the truth and facts. That much is abundantly clear.

Raider are you basing your ticket sales on PAX numbers by any chance?
The reason I ask is my PAX numbers ended this morning at 26,832 at 11am.

Funny cause while i was watching seven news in queensland's AFL state, shane webcke had to bend over during a report and state that the sydney and collingwood match is predicted to outsell the bulldogs and rabbitoh's match, plus the tickets aren't out to the general public yet.Raiderdave wrote:Beaussie wrote:What is it with you and the constant BS your sprout? Who'd imagine 20 years ago that nrl supporters would be so worried about the swans. Threads, stories in the paper and actually worried that the swans will bring more people than two of sydneys biggest clubs. What a long way we've come.

THE AFL grabbed a decisive early lead over the NRL in the great cross-code ANZ Stadium preliminary finals ticket race.
Swans and Collingwood members had snapped up 21,000 tickets to Friday night's blockbuster by 6pm yesterday - 4000 more than the number sold to Saturday night's Rabbitohs and Bulldogs grand final qualifier.
However, the 17,000 tickets brought by Rabbitohs and Bulldogs members yesterday set an NRL record for a preliminary final. By this morning, that figure was expected to surge past 20,000.
Souths fans had purchased 55 per cent of tickets, the Bulldogs 45 per cent. Tickets yesterday were only available to club members and go on sale to the general public today.
About 8000 tickets were also sold yesterday for Friday night's NRL preliminary final between Manly and Melbourne at AAMI Park.
Both NRL ticket figures were opening day records.
Based on yesterday's sales, the Bulldogs-Souths crowd could pass the record of 74,549, set at the 2009 preliminary final between Canterbury and Parramatta. "It's huge," said an NRL source.
AFL officials also believe their match will pull a crowd of more than 70,000 people.

well given the swans average more attendance than any Sydney NRL team I'd suggest they're used to it. But this is a prelim final involving two of their biggest clubs v the swans on Friday night with tickets double the price. If they can't win this one it'll be epic lulz!QueenslandISAFL wrote:Just brilliant, brings a tear to my eye seeing an AFL game outselling an nrl game in it's own heartland, it really does =D> =D>Beaussie wrote:I know you're reading this Raider.
