Yeah funny how the same NRL player won twice but the moment that person wasnt involved the NRL was fourth.
Hmmmm suddenly the NRL lost all their athletic ability!

Deledio came 3rd in 2009, higher than Gidley last year
Ling came 6th in 2010
Hodge came 6th last year
Notice the type of player that has won each year? Shorter faster players like Cooper and Slater. The mistake the AFL have made is selecting tall midfielders. Both Hodge and Ling were amongst the bigger heavier contestants in each group, and none of these guys performed well.

you said 8th every year
What happened to that? Deledio came 3rd, beating Gidley's 4th last year.
NRL skills on the slide?

NRL skills on the slide?

they weren't in it the same year
Gidley would have wiped the floor with imadildo .. or any other vicky kicky player
because they have
no strength
no speed
no agility
no skill
our 2 players proved ... put your guys up against ours
we win & win easily
because we are
stronger
more agile
faster
& have superior skills .......
truth hurts but suck it up .. k

I think this contest was brought up in another thread some time ago. What we are talking about is the relative all round athletic abilities of NRL players V AFL players and going from my memory a AFL player has never finished higher than a NRL player in any years competition.

How can that be when only a single individual player is selected? Slater is obviously a decent athlete and rightly won. But suggesting that is an accurate example of RL athletes is laughable. Why dont you put a huge forward in?

rubbish. The contest favours shorter leaner players which is why theyve won each year. Look at the bench press. The amount each player had to lift was calculated on the players weight so the smaller contestants only had to lift far less. Yet when it came to sprinting the field there was no such allowance made for taller heavier players. Therefore smaller players got to use their speed advantage but bigger players were not given an advantage for being stronger

a typical flogballer having no concept of power to weight ratio's
answer me this
who is faster over 100m
Billy Slater ... or Greg Inglis
Billy Slater weighs 88kgs
inglis ... 108kgs
your games players just need to trot all day.. they have nothing in comparison to our powerful players ...

I think it is very unfair of the League people to criticize the AFL participants. We need to understand that the AFL has very little experience in picking "representative" players and it shows.

Most years that I have watched it the AFL participent has been somone 30+ years of age near the end of their career. Both Ling and Hodge are experienced and skillful rather then athletic. At least Deledio is about 25-26 and fairly fast (I think he was known for running a 10.6 second 100 metre or something like that). According to wikipedia Deledio finished behind Slater.

Oh Deledio was 21 when he did the show.
