well, the AFL's lead per round is worth a lot more than an extra FTA game which is delayed into Melbourne. The AFL is more popular on TV. The NRL just has more isolated games for the year, and a longer season
Rd.1
Perth 5 FTA matches
Melbourne 4 FTA matches
Adelaide 5 FTA matches
Brisbane 4 FTA matches
Sydney 5 FTA matches
+ women's Grand Final
Total 5, 197
Rd 2
Adelaide 5 FTA matches
Sydney 5 FTA matches
Melbourne 4 FTA matches
Perth FTA matches
Brisbane 5 FTA matches
Total 5229
That's ones better but not nearly good enough.
errr, arent these ratings well over what the NRL get? This might include more FTA games but all games bar 2 are shown concurrently, splitting the foxtel audience
The AFL had 5 FTA matches shown into all of its markets, with the exception of Melbourne which had 4. The NRL had 3 FTA matches.
All 4 and 2/3 FTA were available to football public without any interference what so ever .
So why don't you work it out.

Thats like Brisbane having an extra FTA game not involving the Broncos. The extra FTA ratings without your largest market Sydney would be modest only/
Basically, what your showing us is the round tallies are pretty much irrelevant because of the difference in TV schedules. I couldnt agree more. Just like the yearly tallies are insignificant
It all comes down to who gets the best ratings for individual games when they are head to head

A comparison of what it is like would be:-
Brisbane vs Warriors , shown only only in Qld and New Zealand.
Cronulla v Storm , shown only in Sydney and the Southern States.
The ratings from the two 1/2 matches are added together giving you 1 match with maximum ratings.
Because Brisbane are playing Qld get higher ratings.
Because Warriors are playing NZ get higher ratings.
Because Melbourne are playing the Southern states get higher ratings.
Because Cronulla are playing NSW get higher ratings.
if West coast were playing Richmond you would get 150k in Perth.
If the Crows were playing Richmond you would be lucky to get 60 or 70k in Perth.

Which is exactly why I dont compare our Saturday or Sunday ratings to yours. However, it sure didnt stop you comparing your 2 Friday night games to our single game a few years ago, hypocrite.
This is the very reason why Friday is a good comparison. Both codes have a single game up against the other sport on TV. No excuses. Yet it seems like you have so many

Yep, and Sydney is probably the reason. Their FTA ratings have dropped significantly this year it seems. No doubt the fox ratings are up to compensate, but even they were ordinary last night.
Fox ratings are down for the AFL from what I've seen. I suspect people are gradually ditching Foxtel for netflix and the like. So what if they dont get as much sport. Not many AFL fans would watch more than 12 hours of FTA AFL on a weekend anyway

Any match on PTV that gets anywhere near 500k is going to get somewhere near 1.5m.!
Our FTA matches on Sunday arvo average about 850k. One even got over 1m.
This Sunday we will play our Grand Final Replay. Why? because we don't focus on Friday night.
We have matches that rate for our entire round.

We only have 1 to 2 matches a round shown nationally on FTA, and only 1 to 2 shown in isolation on Fox. All your FTA games are shown nationally, and all your fox games are shown in isolation. So of course we will have matches that rate low on FTA and Fox. How do you expect an individual game to rate well when its shown to one or two homeland cities on FTA only, and directly up against another match on fox? Is it really that hard for you to understand??
For these matches the key is the audience that watches in each city, and Adelaide and Perth rival the ratings the NRL gets in Brisbane for % of population, which are way higher than the NRL in Sydney.
We certainly dont focus on Friday either. Last night was between two win-less clubs with Collingwood not even making finals last year. Sydney havent won a match yet and dont really add anything much to our ratings compared to say a Perth or Adelaide club. In fact this has been only the second TH or FR game with an interstate club, and that club adds little extra to the ratings, unlike the Broncos.
So far this year weve had TH round 1 Car v Rich, which is basically bottom 5 teams playing off. FR was Bulldogs v collingwood who missed finals last year. The match of the round was probably on Saturday night with Hawks v Bombers. Round 2 had Coll v Richmond, 2 teams missing finals, and FN was the GF replay, which Im sure you also show on prime time FTA. Adelaide Hawthorn would also have rated well, maybe better, and that was on Saturday arvo. This weekend we had Coll v Syd, yet Cats v demons this arvo would be more interesting to neutrals. Your claims are nothing, especially when your largest club plays almost every round on TH or FR

So the only difference between our FTA is we get 3 matches and you get 4 and a bit matches.
So we can agree on that?

Yep, and our 4th FTA game is on Saturday arvo and delayed into Melbourne, our largest market. So what it adds in ratings is small compared to showing every game in isolation
