Lol a training centre .
They are talking about a boutique stadium that holds 10k
Exactly how much do you think that would cost ?
& why can't the men's team train at South pine till the cricket season is over .
All this cost for a a handful of woman's games & some pre season training for men .

Get real
A second tier sport in this state that already has 3 grounds for 3 teams does not need more money wasted on it

For now but it doesn't suit as a training centre for the men. The Gabba is seen as no good. So making a precinct of sporting excellence sounds like a great investment with the AFL chipping in to get what they need it's a win win for the government and AFL.
Great idea Fredo. The problem is its your idea pal. And you've been going over and over with it post after post. Email fumbleball qld or the qld Govt with your brainstorm and let 'em deal with it. It's a cooked goose here pal!!!

Just been trying to point this out to aflcrap and hence the reason going over and over as he seems to ignore the totality of what I am pointing out.

South pine would likely not be up to standard crapper. The ground would be okay but would need state of the art training facilities like gyms, indoor training areas, ice baths, places for sports technicians to ply their trade. The Gabba is not up to standard but maybe southpine could be bought up to scratch? I think the AFL would want a knew one though like the suns or titans have. Only a small amount of the training week is on the oval crapper.

Oh boy. I will say it again. The AFL plan for growth. If they are getting 3 or 5 thousand at a game then you would be looking at maybe 10000 down the track... maybe 5 years from now. Maybe. That's what the AFL do so well that the nrl could take a leaf out of there play book. So maybe they have 6 or 8 games if the Comp kicks off and goes well. Maybe some practice games of the men which may draw those numbers ... given Gabba unavailable. Metricon will also be unavailable if they get a cricket team on Gold Coast ... which they are hoping to do. So AFL go to government and say hey... we have this idea for a 25 mil sports stadium (just me making up figures here) and here are some community benefits for this area. We will chip in 15 mil and for only 10 mil you get all this out of it for the community. Gov thinks that's cheap... we need this this and this in it as well and a deal is struck. A win win win ... for AFL, government and the local community where it is built. No one loses, as government gets much needed infrastructure and investment in area and community win as they have a new stadium that attracts people to it (particularly if a sporting excellence complex), people and new business buy and spend in the area, and the AFL promote their brand even more.

& once again You want a stadium built on IFS ...BUTS

MAYBES..
Possibly in future .

How about waiting a few years to see if this comp takes off .....if the novelty wears off .

ATM there is a handful of games .
Which are well catered for at South pine .

Well this may be the difference in the two codes. AFL looks to future possibilities and plans for the future.

Surely you don't see anything wrong with that? No point rushing around in 3 years time going "oh we should have done that". If only we planned ahead....

The men need a training facility now and having the women's team adds that extra need and is another extra factor to consider and gives further impedance to considerations.

Saying one should not be considered or put on the table cause hey, the aflw may fold is one way of thinking but a negative one. The aflw is only one part of the puzzle here anyway, but one that adds further weight.

I think terry is right however, I can only keep saying the same thing so often I response to ignoring my points about the men, about a centre of excellence etc. so will leave this here as just going around in circles. If you haven't understood by now me repeating several more times is not going to change anything.

the comp isnt going anywhere. And south pine is not a suitable facility.
The comp mightn't go anywhere
But to say South pine is unsuitable for a semi pro team that plays a handful of home games is laughable

When they can actually fill it every home game ...lol what's that all 3 or 4 then they have a case .
For now it's a suitable stadium for a semi pro team in a minor short comp.

Well they can play at the newest major stadium in qld ...Metricon
Just down the road from brissy
Virtually unused in the off season .

Or doesn't that fit in with the parasitic approach of AFL

Good luck wookie. Crapper Still is focused on the one thing without considering all the other factors that have been mentioned as to why a new larger venue to accomodate both men and women's sides for training and women's home games.

The thinking seems to be one dimensional. "AFL women's team get 5000 (supposedly) to a game so why do they need a 10000 capacity ground? He simply does not hear or acknowledge anything outside of this or dismisses it without thought and comes to the same line of arguement over and over.

Lol
If the qld GVT waste money on that before doing something about the Cowboys stadium there will be a riot .
Andrew Hamilton wish list articles are always good for a chuckle .

See that article summed up all my points. This is what the AFL do well. Firstly they put in money and don't just ask for handouts. The think through the proposal knowing it needs to be more than just a football oval and needs community benefits, so they value add to make it attractive. Then they get people such as local councils on board who see the benefit of such infrastructure to also lobby for the proposal.

So if it happens before Townsville the nrl only have themselves to blame. What are the nrl doing about Townsville apart from asking for handouts ?

Poor ol' Fredo aint too good on research. He goes more for the vibe......lololololololol.

I see the fumblers are already making noise about getting more playing fields and infrastructure on the back of the 'outstanding' success of the female fumbling. I believe this is the reason they bought this mess forward - to get more gov't money and infrastructure and bury other ladies sports if they can.
