KE was in Canberra last year when there was a Senate Committee Sittings into the X Rated DVD industry in NSW and the ACT!

I was croc. I'm appalled with the quality of aussie porn and stated this very strongly at the conference, I backed this up by showing my own personal video entitled "KE and the bondi backdoor backpackers" and comparing it with some poor quality aussie flicks. It all went down rather well.

Beaussie its not common knowledge canberra is a three way split, you just make it up. Its league heartland, what sort of crowds do they get for the AFL matches there? Around 8000 isnt it? We get more in alice springs a town which has a pop of 27000.

You've never been there so what would you know. Fact of the matter is, Australian football, rugby league and rugby union all have a healthy following. The ACT AFL is so strong that the Swans reserves play in it.

And the Kangaroos struggle because the people of Canberra can't identify with a team that flys in and flys out a few times a year. If they were to be based in the ACT full-time, watch as the people of Canberra jump on board. That said the Kangaroos have had a few sellouts in Canberra.

Check out this thread on Big footy.

Note David Votupaul's comments. They are pretty much on the money.

Canberra would be one of the few places with a
legitimite claim to being a strong region in all
four codes, especially where grassroots are
concerned and that's where you have to look at first.
The ACTAFL is one of the strongest regional leagues
with the Swans 2nds in there as well as strong
clubs like Ainslie, Belconnen and Queanbeyan, the
top clubs there pay well.

Canberra's local RL comp is one of the strongest
in country League too, while the Brumbies surely
would have a decent local base to work from. The
Cosmos were not a success in the NSL despite the
considerable junior soccer base there but they
were a mismanged rabble, though I still believe
Canberra should have an A-League side. Belconnen
play in the NSWPL in the meantime.

Thanks jf. I just read it and the strong impression in the thread was either RL as the main sport or RL and RU, not many AFL mentions there. Manuka holds 15000 people  My mind is definitely made up on this one, thanks for trying to tell me rubbish beaussie

You only read the last page of that thread. Check out JF's edited comments above.
