$355 for grandfinal tickets. It's unheard of in Australia's history. In fact, its unaustralian to so nonchalantly cut out the Aussie battlers. A severe blemish on the organisations cred. Add to that the numerous racism debacles and what a horrid year the AFL have had. Unfortunately the fan body just dont seem to have the nouse to confront it.

A possible once in a life time event costing basically what a weekend away would cost is unAustralian?

Do tell!

Oh and lets not forget. $355 is on top of your membership fees! Extortion at its finest, thats what the AFL does best.

Expensive yes. Unaffordable? Hardly! They start at $176.
There was a discussion on Grand Final ticket prices on radio yesterday. The commentators agreed that for a one off event the tickets are expensive but because the profit goes back to the sport in the form of club payments, stadium development, club support, grass roots development etc the cost is justified.
So if the AFL were taking the profit for their investors I'd say thats a bit rough but they distribute the moneyy back to the clubs, players, and fans in many ways so its all good.
As far as the capacity for either codes fans to go to the GF the AFL fans are better off because of the 20k increase in stadium capacity.

That cost is not justified im sorry, it just isnt. It's unheard of and would be seen as expensive in the year 2050. A disgrace and Xman's, as per usual, completely oblivious.

Ah Xman?

> Did you read the thread? We got consensus yonks ago that the tiks are too expensive.
My work mate showed me his $355 tiks. He paid the same for his 7 year old son. What about the children eh Xman? ... He said its extortion.
I'm not bothering to read your silly link Xman, anyone can go and find a link. The fact is I and others have never heard of such prices in the history of sporting events in Australia. May as well add music events also, i.e. a 2 hour gig. It's quite unbelievable and the defensive trollop you dribble on these pages is utterly meaningless Xman...not really amusing anymore, just utterly meaningless.

Well Im sure your workmate doesnt complain about the extremely cheap entry for all 22 home away games.
Making regular games affordable is the most important thing. Key events like the GF are one offs so increased cost of tickets is understandable and as far as Im concerned, acceptable since the profits go straight back in to the game.

Simple economics gentleman supply and demand. They are obviously not too expensive because they have sold them all.NRL people cant believe it because they simply wouldnt go.The AFL doesnt have this problem. And before we start talking shit about the adelaide and sydney final.I think youll find the prelim was not much dearer than last year. Those crowds had everything to do with Friday night(16000 to manly final on friday night)and nothing to do with price. It just shows you how savvy the AFL are.The extra revenue they get above the NRL will easily pay for expansion.I heard some one say it was close to 30,000,000 profit on the finals alone. Now you can say they are selling out the common man and you would have a point. But just as league had to sell its soul to the devil for their money. The AFL fan has to make some sacrifices as well. They get every game live and 4 free to air. This cost the AFL plenty. So suck it up kiddies or we could have one free to air game and saturdays completely devoid of football. The corporates fill the stadium grand final day anyway ,make em pay.

The NRL could easily sell out its tickets at a ridiculously inflated price. Easily. Fact is the NRL puts up a fair price for its tiks and the paying customers.
The AFL GF tickets? Up by approx 2000% on regular season tiks. Yes folks thats not a typo, up by approx 2000% on their regular season tiks. Its unheard of. Extortion as the fans are calling it. Highway robbery of the filthiest kind.

Its pretty easy if you dont like it dont go plenty of people to take your place. Its live on tele, access to everyone.A bit like the NRL forcing people to get foxtel if they want to watch footy on a saturday or monday.I say this is extortion.

Well said porous. NRL fans of clubs other than the broncos are forced to subscribe to foxtel to watch their team, at over $1000 per year.

AFL fans in all states bar VIC get to see their team on FTA every week, and victorians most weeks. The NRL, taking the cash over the opportunity of their fans watching their team on a regular basis. un Australian.

porous? are you having a go at our pookus Xman?
As for the NRL stuff I'd say you're talking about a difficult decision for the NRL. Yes they may have sold out a bit for their dollars, which is a shame. But this was a negotiation between two parties. The AFL GF is solely AFL business, they didnt have to accomodate anothers pov.
Instead they just upped the prices by 2000% to get their greedy mits on more moolah. Shocking and woeful. Even the kiddies tiks are $355.
Yeah sure you can watch it on tv but all the fans wanna be there on GF day. Now only the rich ones can. More than a madonna gig i tells ya!

a farce.

they don't have any nouse at all E... they are the dumbest sports fans certianly in Australia ... possibly the World
they are asked to pay this sort of money
& do
yet theres no guarantee they will even see the premiers at all on Grand Final day
this moronic sport still has Grand Final Replays

... & its dopey fans allow this

>
something all other sports got rid of decades ago still exists in this sport stuck in the 1960's
If I travelled from interstate ... forked out money for air fares .. hotels ... & $350 for a ticket ... only to be told
ooops
sorry
you'll need to come back again next week :>::
I would be lining up someone to be killed
I would not make that same mistake again & put myself in a position where this could eventuate in other words not attend a Grand final ..until this idiotic ... ridiculous situation was changed.
but all the VFL see is the $$
they know their fans are simpletons ... not too bright ... & so nothing has changed & if scores are locked at the VFL GF ... all those people paying through the teeth
paid for nothing ... as there was nothing .. final.. about the day
If I travelled from Sydney ... I'd be ready to commit murder
no it needs a re gig the name .. it needs to be the VFL " Grand Possible Final ".. or the " Grand No Guarantees You'll see the Premier Today Final

"
if it wasn't so pathetically sad .. it would be hilarious
VFL fans .... as dumb... as they come
