Current NRL players from AFL states.

In the AFL there are close to 100 players from Qld and NSW (or so I hear). So here is a question for RL supporters. How many current listed NRL players have spent a majority of their junior development in AFL states (Vic, SA, WA and Tas)? Im looking for current players from NRL clubs who spent 10 years + of their life before they joined the NRL in the back waters of Australia. I would prefer that if they played RL in Victoria for example that they didn't just move to Sydney at say age 10 and start playing league (not that there is anything wrong with that). I just like to know how many NRL have been developed from us Southern states (sic). Show me some details or websites as well (I will believe wikipedia even) that show their history.

Hi pies can you show us where you got your 100 figure from here? You ask others to provide links etc and your reference seems to be 'so i hear'... Its just that the AFL seems to have a history of botching up their numbers and figures to make the sport look mammoth in NSW and I wouldnt want you to be following that trend.

In any case I'd imagine the bulk of the 100 you refer to are from south of the riverina or the ACT (which isnt NSW by the way, although the AFL believes it is) and a sprinkling from north QLD.

I didn't get the 100 figure from websites it is just what I have heard from posters on other websites. Let me look into the figure and while I am doing this for you perhaps you can get some names for me.

The Qld figure is from 2010. Some of these players have left AFL now, however I assume that with the introduction of the Gold Coast Suns that more Qlders have joined the AFL then have left. Also the Giants have now entered the compeition with a lot of local boys going to the Giants and Sun though their local accademies.

Like I said RL is not a 2 state game it is much bigger I know about England, Frace, Italy etc however I was curious about the Country I live in. If you dont like the thread dont contribute that is fine. I also know the RL has secondary leagues in WA, SA, VIc and maybe even Tas. But I was curious about the number of these players who make the 1sts. I was wondering if the players from Southern states were truely from these states or if they had moved to NSW etc at an early age. If anything if they dont have any players in the NRL comming from AFL states it shows that the NRL has lots of room to improve. Why shouldn't we have players in the NRL we clearly would have athletic and talanted boys in our states as well.

AFL is deffinitely played in more states than the NRL and we spent a lot of time on the International board

Oh eels, we live in Australia! We are trying to ascertain how popular RL is in Australia and how far it has spread across the country compared to the AFL.

RL is not two states only it is played in countries around the world I was interested in RL in Australia in places outside of QLd, NSW and the teritories. Becasue AFL is doing well in terms of player development in NSW and Qld. I wasn't really looking to upset anyone. Or have people make outragous statements about 2 state or 3 state game.

But i am clearly highlighting the fact that NRL has more stars in more states around the world by a country mile. =D>

Yes you have lots of Pro players from lots of places (not really what this thread is about) Even though we have pro players from all of the countries you have listed, I dont really want to argue with you about this because it is off the thread topic. I would aknowledge that the NRL has more players from international background and good on the NRL. Would you like some more praise for the internationalness of RL. The only one who (in my opinion) seams to be getting upset by this is you mate. I still cant get an answer to the original question of this thread because apparently you are now powning me is that what happened? Come on mate answer the question (I cant make it any more simple then that Eel) or start a new thread I will happily talk international players in the new thread.
