Topper you have to be able to do the maths surely.
With regards Vic school kids do a bit of research. Time has shown that you simply disregard any "evidence" that does not suit your view of the world eg you know that the new Independent League Commission will have the NRL/ARL still sitting under it and that only Leagues clubs have members ie there are no members of the football clubs. You are the only person going around who believes this.

Every AFL supporter knows about RL's lying culture. Don't say otherwise.
I did the maths and it is impossible for a retention rate of less than 8% (your words "If they did not retain 8% then the growth for the year had to be 16%.") to cause a recruitment rate to double from 8% to 16%. It's basic and you need to explain yourself.
As for that claim about Vic school kids, it's complete lies. If you do the research correctly you will know that no school plays it competitively in Victoria (
https://www.ssv.vic.edu.au/StateCompeti ... fault.aspx 19 sports and look what's missing), and you will know that junior RL is swamped by junior AFL and junior soccer. You are the one disregarding evidence.

I didn't need another burp from the burp machine after I edited my last post to include online evidence.

Topper, you should know it's completely useless trying to have even a half-decent conversation.
Here is BF post. It looks like the page has expired unfortunately.
An interesting piece in today's Daily Telegraph:
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/c ... 5886874234
It seems that
36,300 new people signed up to play Aussie rules compared to 33,700 taking up rugby league. I'm not sure how the statistics were collected, or whether AusKick participants are included; but even if they were it still suggests there has been some growth.
The key point is that it's a
completely independent unbiased survey (by the Australian Sports Commission). It measured who the participants actually identified as being members thereof.
Here's the key parts -
LEAGUE has taken a battering from AFL in the latest sports participation survey and the biggest star to switch codes hasn't even left the NRL.
Figures from the Australian Sports Commission show that, for the first time ever, Australian rules has beaten rugby league in the battle to sign up new members on league's home turf in NSW....
the AFL attracted 36,400 new NSW members from 2007-2009. Hammered by a membership downturn in 2008 during the global financial crisis, rugby league could only manage an increase of 33,700 in the same period.
... AFL memberships in NSW, which have risen from 9300 in 2007 to more than 45,000 in 2009.

its expired because it was exposed as utter BS
example
what the HELL is a membership , where junior participants are concerned ?
I can assure you no such thing exists in RL .. so how does this ridiculous article claim we had a downturn in them ?
oh thats right
its BS .. so who cares what they said .. right

A member of a JAFC is one who registers and pays to be a player in the JAFC in an organised competition.
Interestingly Auskickers aren't members even though they pay to partake in the Auskick season and may compete against other clubs.
Amazing that RD doesn't know this little fact, even though he's the so-called AFL numbers expert.

its never been called a membership
its known as a registration
& as pointed out in the other article ... these numbers are about as reliable a set of figures , as the one from the AFL claiming there are 86K AR players in one age group alone in NSW ..
they're to be treated with disdain n ridicule
Auskick participants do not pay anything to take part in NSW the ACT & QLD .. in fact they recieve free merchandise for being forced to fumble bumble n miss at school.
no doubt the AFL includes this merchandise as part of its " sales " to futher fudge figures
are there no depths this mob will go to

Showing you ignorance again RD.
Being a registered and paying player makes you a member automatically . Members can vote if interested.
That is the reason they are referred to as members.
Auskick run by clubs is a paying program, in fact a big money spinner for the clubs.
Other Auskick programs (run by other organisations) are quite possibly are free.

never been called anything other then registered club players
members are the people who pay to watch ... not play
a fishy ... sus .. incorrect reference that is not to be believed .. the same as the figures themselves
awful article .. obviously poorly researched .. the stupid bitch doesn't even know what a player signed up to a club is called
Auskick is completely free up this way
doesn't matter who's running it .... a sham of a system.. kids forced to part take .. then included in official participation numbers even though most will not look at a sherrin again
the AFL > Bull honkey

Where exactly do you think members of JAFCs come from ?
Since you have zero interaction with AR you have zero knowledge of AR.

a registered club player has never been refered to as a " member " in either code
registered juniors
registered seniors
they are affliated with the club as registered players ... they are not members of the club
if some scrawny little weed signs up to play for Eastlakes AFL club here in Canberra
he is not a member of its Club is he ?
this article doesn't seem to know what the hell its even refering to ... a woeful piece
just woeful

Lets get this thread straight. Cos lettuce is clearly in the wrong suggesting a guy who has played RL for two years, at amatuer level during a hiatus from Aussie Rules is a "Big RL name". Going by his standards we could look up nephews and third cousins of AFL players who play rl and call them "big name AFL players" who convert to league.
Cos lettuce is getting all droopy and saggy.
