Never said too many polys are problem not once. As I have said the whole time too many fat out of shape skilless mmonsters are a problem.Love barba need more of him alfies too but it would seem there are less and less.As I said when the commish changes the rules next year and you know they will.Bennett asked for it so has gould. Then you can come and tell me how right I was. Remove the trex and get your game back. The one I used to quite enjoy.King-Eliagh wrote:You're not making much sense pookus. What's the problem with the high percentage of Polynesians in the comp again?
And that Alfie Langer dribble. Again you dont make sense. Sam backo? Blocka Roach? Yeah they were tiny.
Oh and lets matchup Alfie Langer vs the current Dally M winner Benny Barba shall we
Pookus' inspiration Alfie Langer playing wieght = 88kg
Current Dally M winner Benny Barba playing weight = 86kg
Yeah pookus, you know what you're talking aboutThose bloody polynesians have ruined the game, little guys cant do good no more.
Put ya specs on ya git

Poor diddums, you used to enjoy it...when there was a few more little white guys running round. The game, as everything has changed and evolved and Trex is awesome. Spose we should 'remove' Dave Taylor and all the white props too eh? Fairs fair now, I mean by the human rights commission's definition we'd be looking a bit like a bunch of racists focussing just on the polynesians now wouldnt we?

100% on taylor useless fat heap of caca.Ive read the stats so have you,you know the little guys are going missing its a fact. And like you id like to see a lot more barbars.I keep trying to move away from race and you keep dragging it there. If I didnt know better Id think youve got an agenda. You dont want to debate this you just want it to denegrate into something ugly.A lot like what is going on in Sydney at the moment. Are you a racist if you dont agree with those young men.Of course your not.Are you a racist if you look for reasons as to why the poly guys and NZ(world champs) are becoming increasingly dominant.Of course you arent. But im sure youll come on here play the racist card and that will be the end of our chat.King-Eliagh wrote:Poor diddums, you used to enjoy it...when there was a few more little white guys running round. Re: Serious question about NRL's direction
Hahaha Dave Taylor useless on a RL field. Pookus do you have little mans syndrome by any chance? Seriously, we need big men playing in the game. That's always been the case and it always will be. Also as the sport becomes more and more professional the athletes will and have become stronger faster bigger, to the detriment of those who are skinny weak and slow. Not everyone can be a league star pookus, that's just the way professional competition goes so you can shove your equality/disproportionate argument where the sun dont shine, its complete BS.
Yes I do have an agenda here. And that's to illustrate to those numbskulls, including yourself to a degree pookus, who cant help but associate what they see as a problem in the game with a race of people. There'd be a whole raft of reasons why polynesians have been successful which go beyond your simple notion of 'body type'. Simply being 7 foot doesnt make you a good basketballer.

Now we are more where I want to be.I agree completely with the evolution of the sport. But this situation didnt evolve it was created by mismanagement. As far as a race as I have been saying dont care what colour just care about the player and I like the skillful Benji rather than the lump Taylor. And Im not the only one who thinks hes overrated.Didnt play the third origin I believe. But that is footy talk and we can do that all day.I used to live with a guy who played div 6 for Narellan.Fukn monster and one of my favourite people ever.Wed argue forward pack vs playmakers all day.I think now it has been slanted the wrong way but thats an opinion. But as a marker to the opinion I have the proof that the game is way more defensive(less tries)and the play of the ball is slower. This is a direct result of too many lumps. The question I ask is has this allowed a certain body type to dominate league.A great discussion point. To bad when people want to drag it down with this Racism bullshit.King-Eliagh wrote:Hahaha Dave Taylor useless on a RL field. Re: Serious question about NRL's direction
I'm not trying to drag folk down, just making the point that the focus should not be on polynesians as the 'problem', which I believe it has been until now. The simple manner in which this thread began is and should be highlights as, lamo.
Now you say it's 'mismanagement' which is the reason for the sport being dominated by physically strong thickset men... I'd say professionalism is a much better reason. These guys train twice as much as they did in the early 90's so of course they're bigger. Less tries? I dont know about that, I think there's been a shiteload more tries since the 10metre rule came in. Sometimes the game is not defensive enough anymore. The play the ball is slower not because of the size of the players but due to coaching tactics. It's very important to slow the play the ball down. Again I really dont see the certain body type argument. All sports have a certain 'body type' which dominates...right?

Re: Serious question about NRL's direction
Very true about body type but I'll still argue the changes to the game have been detrimental to the sport. And ill argue the point even stronger with AFL.Who wants a game dominated by 6'3 whippets. But i think youll find both codes will make changes to rectify the problem.I cant argue for others but the issue I was raising was that when a certain body type starts to dominate the game often it is at the detriment of the sport. But that is opinion granted.I read a stat saying there is 2 less trys a game now compared to ten year ago but I cant find it.The coaching as you said is the major issue. These are the guys who look to certain players to play a role/Unfortunatle in my opinion the lads they are recruiting are big lumps because as you said to slow the play of the ball is crucial in the modern game.If it continues theyll just start recruiting bloke with jujitsu brown belts.Open it up my man watch em run.Surely thats when league is at its best.King-Eliagh wrote:I'm not trying to drag folk down, just making the point that the focus should not be on polynesians as the 'problem', which I believe it has been until now. I really think there is no big deal. It's all been fairly organic imo and the game is going great guns with a mix of brutish machines and speedsters.

Re: Serious question about NRL's direction
So you think there's not enough small fellas or speedsters in the game? The majority of halfbacks are not huge. The majority of fullbacks are nmot huge and speedsters. The majority of wingers are speedsters. Man there's speed everywhere and littler men are still a plenty.

Re: Serious question about NRL's direction
They are there but it is the lack of adventure in the halves to get it out to them.Much easier to give it to the brute, hit it up, kick on the last and hope pot luck kicks in.At least you can tell the board you have great completion rates.Might keep you in a job.Telling you mate cut the bench to 5 a couple of subs for injury and watch the fat men slow down.

Re: Serious question about NRL's direction
For as long as ive known the forwards are for gaining ground and defence and the halves do the work out wide 'after' the forwards have done their work. Not much different now to 30 years ago and longer really.

xman wrote:KE, why is an even comp important?
Re: Serious question about NRL's direction
Yeah but they used to slow down KE then you could run past them. Some of these monsters arent even playing for 30 minutes while the playmakers play 80. So back in the day just like AFL when blokes are knackered the game opens up.Then you see the maestros do there thing.I know this is very objective and not everyone feels the same way.But id rather watch gazza and slater rather than ling and taylor.Like I said my 160 kg mate would disagree whole heartedly. :DKing-Eliagh wrote:For as long as ive known the forwards are for gaining ground and defence and the halves do the work out wide 'after' the forwards have done their work. Re: Serious question about NRL's direction
Not a bad point there. I'd argue and am quite sure that a rule change to the unlimited interchange or other rule changes to effect the game you wanna see will not reduce the numbers of polynesians in the comp though. They're in there on merit, not because of their 'body type'.
