I heard that when West Sydney suspended Greene for five weeks (when I would have sacked him) and fined the maximum allowed by the AFLPA, Greene decided to protest it! At a guess he's trying to claim "innocent until proven guilty" but don't quote me on that one!

As far as which incident was worse - there are several ways to look at it. I can see NRLC's point from one angle (the effect on the image of the game) but on the other hand if you looked at it from the view of pure physicality obviously what Greene did was worse. And then if you look at it from the point of view of psychological effects all round it could be argued that Pearce was worse.

If that represents equity, I'll put that forward as a point. But not with confidence I'll admit.

Public imagery relies more on physicality than anything else, TLPG, and there again it was Greene who was worse. In the cold hard light of day, who really cares about psychology in public imagery? I heard that story about Greene protesting also and I was not very impressed with the Player's Association apparently supporting him when they should have told him off.

TLPG and Cracker, didn't you read the report? A fricking FEMALE was involved in the incident with Pearce!! That automatically makes Pearce at least on a par with Greene!! Are you two in favour of not protecting females all of a sudden??

I tend to agree with Raiderdave to the extent that what Greene did was way worse. I am not in any way suggesting that Pearce should be defended for what he did. In fact the article linked was very vague about what specifically happened, but nevertheless he should have been punished and was.

But with the fine and so on, I agree with TLPG on the involvement on the Player's Association and this is an issue that is outside the AFL's control under the present rules. So Raiderdave is wrong that is reflects directly on the code as a whole. It only reflects on the present rule structure - and it won't be easy to review because of the power the Player's Association has. I honestly think that the NRL players should have something similar in place, if anything to force a better deal in wages.

Stop deflecting (standard derpball tactic).
That has nothing to do with your clueless claim that RL should have a player association.
You were shown up again as having no fucking idea about RL...

But I will answer just to be nice.
Maybe the RLPA thought Pearces penalty was justified..

Not like the wet lettuce leaf AFL approach..
& as for player payments.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-31/n ... ul/5059988
The NRL is preparing to roll out a new-look salary cap by the start of the 2015 season having nearly completed an exhaustive look at ways to improve the current system.

Chief operating officer Jim Doyle and head of football Todd Greenberg have counselled players, clubs, fans, sponsors and player managers before engaging sections of the media on Tuesday to gauge ideas to overhaul the cap and bring it in line with the modern game.

Transfer windows and fees are being considered, while the abolition of the second-tier mechanism to allow clubs to include players outside their top-25 under one cap is almost certain.

In one of the biggest shake-ups to the game since Super League, the NRL is expected to complete its research and submit a blueprint for approval by the Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) by the end of the month.

Allownaces for marquee players are high on the agenda, with the current figure of $600,000 for each club and how it is used under scrutiny.

Veteran players' allowances, which currently involve a $200,000 cap discount for players with eight consecutive years' service with one club, are also being examined.

Discussions have taken place about potentially reducing the number of years served for a player to qualify and spreading it out to more than one player

I said "something similar in place". That did not mean that there wasn't an association in the NRL at all. What I was calling for was for a stronger association that what there has been.

Now you've come back with something that I wasn't aware of, and that's a good sign for NRL player payments. It's also good for competition, especially in the sense that it will stop any NRL player from jumping to the AFL for a better pay packet like Hunt and Folau did.

I felt that I didn't need to say that. Do I have to behave in the way you expect me to in order for you to believe me? I have some important information for you. We are all individuals and we are not sheep.

Let's face it. The punishment given to Pearce was right. So why should I criticise the NRL player's association for not saying anything on that? They shouldn't have and they didn't. So no need to even bring them up. The AFL player's association however were asked to jump on Greene's punishment, so of course they got a mention. That is what led me to refer to their positive effect on player payments as a sideways swipe at the NRL Player's Association's influence on NRL player payments.

I shouldn't need to explain myself to you. But there you go.
