How is any of this relevant to memberships - the NRL fail completely in regards to memberships!

We dont fail, we just simply started much later - as you can see our top clubs are already leaving many of your lower clubs in there dust.

If Souths haven't already gone past the Swans they soon will!

My clubs membership has gone up 300% or 10 000 members in the last 5 years - in 2012 Collingwood increased by just 750 on ther 2011 membership . While other clubs struggled to retain members with the Sydney Swans suffering a decrease of 13.86%, but the biggest drop was Gold Coast Suns which dropped by 20 per cent. Brisbane (7 per cent), Fremantle (2.40), Port Adelaide (2.95) and Adelaide (3.4). Essendon, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs all lost members from last year as well

This year’s totals closed at the end of August, compared to the end of June in previous years.

You are seriously delusional - the Swans have broken their membership totals two years in a row (3k more than this time last year) and are 7k more than Sth Sydney - NO AFL club with the exception of GWS and GC are under 20k there is only ONE NRL side with more - Collingwood have more members than last year and it takes your three biggest clubs to equal this one clubs total (or 6 of your bottom clubs). All your clubs with the exception of Aukland have had miminal growth compared to last year - you are a fool

Your total is less than 1/3rd the AFLs. In the time its taken the NRL to go from 50k to 200k the AFL have increased by over 200k. The gap is actually growing

At the 1/1/2013

the bunnies total was 18.157 currently over 28 k an increase of 10 000 or over 50 % - Roosters in the same time over 150% Manly more - and the list goes on.Try loking at the figures over a couple of years . The results paint a far more accurate picture.

They have large percentage increases because they are coming off dismally low bases. Fact is the AFL memberships are growing further ahead every year.

Have a look at wookies table. The NRL are ahead of their 2013 tally by 7200. The AFL are also ahead by about the same margin. Yet the AFL is two less games into their season and therefore has more time to increase.

The margin between the two codes is over 500k and it isnt closing, if anything its growing

I agree - But we have just began to take membership seriously. The poker machine tax has made membership a priority. Dont worry though, with huge growth spurts like we have seen from clubs like the Tigers, Rooster, Rabbitohs etc. this year our gold medal is in safe hands.

For the record, while pussycats club may have gone up 10,000 members in the last 5 years, Collingwoods memberships has risen by 21,000 in the last 4 years. (up from 57,000 to 78,000). at the same time, Collingwood receives more in membership revenue per member than any other club in Melbourne, and ahead of the average season ticket of $180.00.

Also not on this list but ahead of every NRL club are the Queensland Reds rugby union club with more than 36,000 members according to their website this afternoon.

Seriously dude what are you arguing - your in front because you haven't bothered about membership for 20 yrs???? By your very own logic if you are 20 yrs behind it will take you 20 yrs to catch up - in that time the AFL will continue to increase which may mean you will never catch up! Give it up your not first but clearly second!!
PS if NSW and QLD start viewing membership seriously it may inadvertently encourage NSW/QLD AFL followers to buy memberships increasing AFL memberships even more - which in turn further widens the gap!
