For most, though, the day is an occasion on which to formally pay tribute and to remember.

Anzac Day now promotes a sense of unity, perhaps more effectively than any other day on the national calendar. People whose politics, beliefs and aspirations are widely different can nevertheless share a genuine sorrow at the loss of so many lives in war, and a real respect for those who have endured warfare on behalf of the country we live in.

why did the VFL play the NZ national anthem at the MCG yesterday ?

there wasn't a kiwi in sight
not one

& yet this pathetic slime bag organisation
the Kings of tokenism & half hearted gestures the VFL
saw fit to recognise the NZ... in ANZAC

there was only one real ANZAC clash in Melbourne yesterday
& it was at AAMI park
where the 2 nations players .. citizens & expats mingled.. commemorated & celebrated the ANZAC tradition together with a great game of football

there was a farce played earlier somewhere down there
the less said about that disgusting disrespectful event the better

Double the number of Australians watched it on TV compared to the NRLs ANZAC day clash. In fact its easily the highest rating game this year so far. What does that tell you? :>::
