The figures support the original claim that the storm were a financial liability before and after their scandal. That was the entire argument, which has now been provenCracker wrote:But did you say that? That's what I was checking.
Just for the record, the profit year was also before the the salary cap scandal broke. The last year in fact - 2009.

Are you claiming a profit in a single successful year is all that is needed for a club to be financially viable?Cracker wrote:Except in 2009.

The reality is, if you were going to rate each sport in winter as to popularity, interest etc, nrl in Perth would be hardly on the list. Hockey, netball, tennis, baseball, softball, surfing, would all be well above nrl. In Victoria nrl would be akin to gridiron ... I suspect gridiron would have more interest at a local grassroots level . Sure people will turn up to a match .. Just as they did for baseball in Sydney ... Or the 100 metres at Olympics etc. but day in day out ,

There is no comparison with recreational sports of surfing, fishing, tennis and golf but that's hardly relevant.Phelpsy wrote:The reality is, if you were going to rate each sport in winter as to popularity, interest etc, nrl in Perth would be hardly on the list. Obviously AFL is everywhere then a big drop to RU, NBL and soccer.
Baseball, softball and t-ball as well as Netball are HUGE but like soccer don't have the pointy end power.
Hockey is the same but smaller scale.
Gridiron and nrl are about the same depending on what criteria you use. In fact Gridiron takes in a lot of rl players.
Nationally gridiron is a lot more balanced than rl across Australia.
Nice try Cos.

It always amuses me how rl types are so willing to demonstrate that they have no answer.

Anyone who compares Gridiron to RL in Australia is a fucking nutjob.

Maybe for Australia as a whole , but in Victoria it would be close at a grassroots level as a decent gridiron comp there.

It always amazes me someone sitting up in Qld telling people who live in Victoria what the sporting scene is like down here - fact is Gridiron has more established clubs than RL and union far exceeds any presence that RL has in Victoria!AFLcrap1 wrote:Anyone who compares Gridiron to RL in Australia is a fucking nutjob.

Is this your opinion? Otherwise you need to demonstrate this with figuresSwans4ever wrote:It always amazes me someone sitting up in Qld telling people who live in Victoria what the sporting scene is like down here - fact is Gridiron has more established clubs than RL and union far exceeds any presence that RL has in Victoria!AFLcrap1 wrote:Anyone who compares Gridiron to RL in Australia is a fucking nutjob.
