Re: NRL Officially Dead In South Australia
That is very childish of you to attempt to pass the buck like that. Yet again you are showing little responsibility.
The NRL is not an east coast league, as it also has a team in New Zealand and will have a full team in Papua New Guinea (as in playing the elite level competition).

Re: NRL Officially Dead In South Australia
Are you really serious.?
Are you really saying the AFL is not national and the nrl is national?
Is that what you are saying?
It certainly seems that way. How old are you?

Re: NRL Officially Dead In South Australia
The AFL have 2 teams in each of the 5 largest states, play regular games in the 6th largest state, and some games in the ACTCracker wrote:Three states and one territory, and five states and no territories. Either they are both national or neither are national.
The NRL have only 2 teams outside their 2 homeland states and no teams or regular games in the other 3 Australian states
Not even close
King-Eliagh: ...I believe [RL] is popular in all the other states and territories, bar tasmania.

Re: NRL Officially Dead In South Australia
The AFL is the Australian Football League - it isn't claiming anything it isn't - however it is more representative of all Australia than the NRL - having NATIONAL in the league title is trying to con people that they are indeed NATIONAL but they are in fact an east coast league - having the three Queensland teams and the Melbourne team don't change this (ACT is IN NSW and originally played at Queanbeyan so it doesn't count!!! They had teams in Perth and Adelaide but were more interested in propping up Sydney clubs because it is a NSW competition with NSW calling the shots!!!Cracker wrote:Three states and one territory, and five states and no territories. Simply put the NRL is NOT National and the AFL are not so conceded and arrogant that they would claim that - only in the delusional world of RL!!!

Re: NRL Officially Dead In South Australia
The NRL is also known as the ARL just by the way, gentlemen.
The Raiders do count as the club has always been based in Canberra. They had to play in Queanbeyan because to begin with there was no venue in the ACT that could be used for an elite venue. It's an ACT club, not a New South Wales club. Does Barry O'Farrell have a say in the running of the ACT?
The NRL have played games in SA, WA and Tasmania. Maybe not as many as the AFL have in Tasmania, the ACT and indeed NT, but they have played them. It is a national competition whether you like it or not. Technically the only way it can not be called a national competition is if all of it's clubs are in one state. Granted, that's pedantic, but what do you call something that's in between? There's no such term. It's either national or state.

Re: NRL Officially Dead In South Australia
Adelaide Oval hosted a game in 2010 and 2011, for premiership points. The Bulldogs were the home team on both occasions.
Subiaco hosted a game in 2012, for premiership points.
At least.

So what AFL has played games in NZ, London, Sth Africa, Canada, USA and Japan but we don't claim it as an international comp - those games are nothing more than exhibition matches for points there is NO National RL!!!!

Also China recently. The WAFL played in India. The VFL in Hawaii.Swans4ever wrote:So what AFL has played games in NZ, London, Sth Africa, Canada, USA and Japan but we don't claim it as an international comp - those games are nothing more than exhibition matches for points there is NO National RL!!!!
Actually one AF event overseas was a "competition" with playoffs and a winner.
The AFL plays regularly in Tasmania and looks like taking a step closer to a Tasmanian resident team by today's events.
The AFL plays regularly in the ACT in being part home ground for GWS.
Even though the populations are small, the AFL still manages games in Darwin and Cairns.
Another measure of a national competition is having a vibrant second tier and of course AF
has the WAFL, SANFl, TSL, VFL, NEAFL, SFL, AFLQ, NTFL, ACTFL. that pretty much covers AUstralia.

Nice try Cos.
