It's not. Price doesn't matter. Many fans just will not travel and need to be encouraged to do so. ANZ and Allianz are not good enough for this purpose.

how much better stadiums do you want in Sydney. Allianz was a purpose built NRL STADIUM.
how much more of a better stadium do they need, lounge chairs, that are heated, free wifi, free food and beer,? all for the $15 entry fee?
the NRL has never had decent crowds and never will, no matter how good you build the stadium. its popularity is vastly over rated.
look at, crowds, league & club revenue, membership & membership revenue, sponsorship, the NRL is patheticly behind the AFL,

the NRL has purpose built stadiums, endless excuses, games scheduled at wrong times, wet weather, its to hot, ticket prices to high! there is an excuse each weekend to explain the poor attendance. look at the history of the NRL crowds at the end of every season they have always had shit crowd averages,but no ends of rubbish excuses.

Aye dopey, the NRL crowds are world class, just because the victorian game has double means jack, they are world class crowds too.

We are not doing too bad for a 20 million population.

it only makes the AFL look more impressive with crowd turn outs. the larger clubs collingwoods & essendon average 50k, eagles and dockers average 40, playing out of a 42k seat stadium, both games in Adelaide have drawn around 50k so far this year.

It's too small in capacity and it's terrible in the wet weather, making it not much better than most suburban venues. The capacity needs to be more than doubled and have a roof placed on it just like Etihad Stadium has.

etihad stadium was built because the AFL is paying it off and will take ownership of it in 2025.

As far as paying for the improvements are concerned, it should be the New South Wales government pitching in with private consortiums with an interest in rugby league and also soccer as it would be a prime venue for a World Cup final should we ever get to host one. What are you talking about Cracker - we will never get the World Cup and if we did - FFA would have the final in Sydney even though the MCG holds more and is a better ground - due to the Sydney Blais of the FFA.

the FIFA is a well run organisation that will never choose Australia for simple reasons. there are many countries far ahead of Australia that deserves the world cup more so. australia is a small country and soccer is a 3rd rated game here (the NRL fans breath a sigh of relief).
the A league gets no interest many of the clubs are in financial debt, get crap crowds. the junior comps are raided by the English & European leagues. aside from being a boring game, soccer in Australia growth has been minor in the last 30 odd years.

I'm sure the NRL will put enough pressure on them to get it done, as long as it is made clear that one of the reasons for the poor crowds is poor venues such as Allianz.

I'll repeat this. FIFA will tell the FFA where the final will be played - and that will be at the biggest capacity venue in the host country. That is the MCG, not ANZ.

ANZ will get the final. aside from the fact it is a shit hole, & MCG is a far better stadium, it has the advantage of being rectangular, the MCG is not.

FIFA will want the MCG, not ANZ. What's rectangular and what's not is immaterial. The MCG holds 100,000. ANZ holds 88,000. It's a no brainer as they say.

If our World Cup bid doesn't include the final at the MCG, we'll never get it. Never. Sydney must have a stadium that holds 100,000 for that to change. The only way to get that done is to rebuild Allianz, along with improving the stadium in terms of the weather. Assumptions made by Cos789 on the game of rugby league is inaccurate.

it's not Australian Football that there watching, a game that people are willing to go and watch in numbers.

Give rugby league an appropriate venue in all respects as I have stated previously, and the crowds will come. The interest is there. The TV ratings prove this. We just need to get fans off the couches and into the venues.
