You are ignoring an important consideration in the future of elite sport, AFLcrap1. In such a small country as Australia, away supporters are essential for survival. This is not a "moronic" argument. It is recognition of the national nature of the AFL and how the NRL should be going in the same direction for the purposes of competition.

Of course away supporters are important but they vary too greatly to be used as an indication of support for the away team

But that variable is not enough to just ignore it completely. That's bad business.

Nobody's ignoring away supporters it's just that home attendances are more important in most instances.

There are members here who are totally ignoring away crowds simply for convenience. Interest in clubs when they are visiting is important.
