Back on topic which you guys clearly struggle with. What is the % growth of both codes memberships over the last 5 or so years. Anyone got a good website that can keep these AFL boys on task.

AFL membership tally in 2009 was 568748. In 2013 it was 756717. Thats an increase of around 188k

so about 33% growth
but when you exclude the 2 new sides & their 24K odd members

it goes down to 30%

the NRL barely had 100K members in 2009
they had 225K in 2013

an increase of about 125%

The NRL may claim they have had a decent increase but the gap between members tally is actually growing. According you it was around 470k in 2009, 5 years later its nearly 520k more.

As for your claim about 2 new teams, theyre still new members they previously didnt have, so of course they count.

memberships in the NRL has always been around. All & every summer the NRL advertise the shit out of a heap of crap ads, trying to convince the brinless NRL fans that "they need you"

I think that there is even debate around membership, playing numbers, crowds etc is proof of the inroads AFL had made into these traditional nrl heartlands. This is nrl heartland ,.... It shouldn't even be that AFL is anywhere near compete ting with nrl in any key performance indicators ..... But the AFL is !!!! The fact that the suns and lions get similar crowds to a qld team is amazing.

I havent really tracked NRL stuff - Ill see what I can find. AFL membership is easy to track, each club and category of membership is published in its annual reports which ive got going back to 1993.

In the meantime though from the clubs who made the information available, here is the membership revenue and revenue per member for the AFL in 2013
