back to the topic about the Auckland Nines...

P.S The Auckland Nines is looking like its going to be a great summer RL tournament, and a great addition to the NRL/ARL calendar.
its so much better than the All Stars game, i never liked the idea around the Indigenous All Stars game. the game is suppose to encourage reconciliation through recognition of indigenous contribution the RL and a celebration with a sort of 'comming together' between all Australians (both the Indigenous and non Indigenous).

the all stars game to me doesnt portray the ideals of unity and reconciliation because its one culture/race against the rest, and sadly a small proportion of fans at the all stars games(the vast majority of this proportion being fans supporting the indigineous all stars) watch these games with an almost us vs them like mentality, built up perhaps from hatred or ignorance they learned growing up.

Ive seen some fans who were supporting the Indigineous All Stars watch as a big hit is made by a player on their team and injuring the all star player, suddenly these fans start hurtleing out racial slurs etc to the injured player and people of similar background. they used the big hit on the opposition player as some kind of 'one up' over another race, that to me is not reconciliation, its just the so called reverse racism out to play.

reverse racisim = switching each generation from the victim to aggressor and so forth...

Ever heard of the "leaving it all out on the field" concept of honourable combat? That's what it promotes!

Remember claiming the NRL G f would easily rate over the AFL GF last year, and how it would get near 2.7m metro viewers? What happened there?

BUMP.
On this weekend.
Another successful(2 days sold out,& in another country) RL comp.to compliment OUR regular season.,
Our unrivalled SOO Series.
Our recently finished Highly successful RLWC.
& our regular internationals.

No wonder the derpballers go into a jealous frenzy of lies ,half truths & straight out foaming at the mouth .
they have nothing but their domestic comp.

So RL fans get ready for the jealous rambling postings of Adam,Cwapper & co over the weekend.

Will be hilarious just like the RLWC frenzy.

I'm in qld and just finished a surf at currumbin. I would like to watch a bit of it and see the format as maybe this format had something more to offer than regular rl. Like one day cricket brought to cricket and now 20 20. Hope it's good though. I like the short format. What channel is it on ?

I think it's great ... If the new format is exciting gives me another interest to watch. Still can't see nrl rivaling AFL however although at least the nrl or arl ? Are trying new and innovative things to brighten up the game.

BUMP..
Looks like despite the lies & predictions of dying ..things look very very good for the future of RL..

The pre season comp was a roaring success.
http://www.foxsports.com.au//league/...#ixzz2tvyX9WR7

...NRL chief executive Dave Smith said last week the governing body would consider English applications for next year’s Nines but it is understood the event will remain off-limits to Super League, with stakeholders reluctant to tinker with a formula that delivered a $3 million-plus bonanza to the NRL and its 16 clubs.

While the clubs pocketed $2.25m in prizemoney, the NRL will bank an estimated $1m, consolidating the $49.6m surplus it announced at last week’s chief executives meeting in Auckland...

.& now CH 10 wants to get in on it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/spo...-1226832057506

CHANNEL 10 may pursue rugby league’s Auckland Nines to build on the success of its summer ratings bonanza, cricket’s T20 Big Bash League. The short form of rugby league made its debut last weekend with strong viewer figures on Fox Sports.
Fox Sports chief executive Patrick Delany was unaware of Ten’s possible interest last night, but maintained that his network held exclusive rights to cover the remaining four years of the current deal.
“I don’t want to go into too much detail, but we have the exclusive rights,” Delany said.
Although the ARLC did not green light the Nines until almost a year after the TV deal was announced, Delany confirmed the concept was catered for in his contract.
He declined to speculate whether Fox Sports would be open to on-selling the rights so that the tournament might be shown on free-to-air. The NRL also declined to clarify the Nines aspect of the TV deal.

Channel 10 head of sport David Barham confirmed the network would be interested in the tournament.
“We are looking at all sports,” Barham said. “I think the Nines has distinct possibility for free-to-air television.”
Even if the BBL and Nines schedules crossed over, the friendly time difference means the Nines would finish at 6pm, providing the perfect lead-in to the cricket’s 7.30pm start.

& apparently according to the DERPBALL brains trust(LOL) RL is dying..
