Try Werribee, Sunshine, Broady, Dandenong there's a very large Islander population - I know 1st hand but only about 2-3% would play RL. 70% play RU, about 20% soccer, at least 7% AF - there is very few playing league![/quote

http://www.nrl.com/hayne-likens-us-run- ... fault.aspx

Maybe if you read this article you might see the benefits of putting a few good NRL players with heritage to a country in that team. Winning creates interest and I completely agree the USA team shoulda had more yanks but the schism of two leagues diluted the playing quality and made this difficult. Woulda also rathered a couple of extra Italians in Italy's team but they need to be competitive and win in order to generate interest. No news will be generated in the respective country from the AFL ic nor a complete demolition

Had ready read that article - while I can understand someone having this view - didn't Russia have a side at previous RLWC, hasn't USA had several appearances - there comes a point when someone has every right to point out that these are countries are more in name than fact! So is it legitimately been run with countries that are LEGITIMATE participants OR is it a matter of trying to pull the wool over the eyes - I say it's the latter because to have a World Cup with three sides is a championship not a world event!

USA has never been in it.

Why 3 sides? Many others are as legit as a union world cup which I assume you think is global but only 4 can win.

Why would having more locals in a team that gets hammered generate more interest or participation. Working out real well for AFL ic isn't it.

I recall a WC where USA was playing at the SFS - a couple of years after SOO match was played in California in the 90's - however I could be mistaken

Well this rlwc is about RL in Europe as seen through the community and school stuff players are doing as well as awareness for the sport through good crowds in Wales England and France.

And its done that well. Its also generating a bit of noise in the states to provide legitimacy as seen in the new York times mention which didn't care how many were local.

Who cares thats England - how about Australia - any chance you can get an audience for a national team outside of NSW-QLD? Thought not!
