Soccer has sufficient world wide strength to be able to do that. League doesn't. And you split it into divisions, like the AFL does with their IC. That way EVERYONE plays and you don't have the mismatches you're talking about.

Fyiar, look again. The number of countries playing now compared to ten years ago when the IC first started defeats your argument. Some countries do pretty well, like PNG and New Zealand. South Africa and Ireland (the reigning champions) play a good brand of AFL as well. Sure, they aren't in the class of Hawthorn or Fremantle but hey - you have to start somewhere! Show some respect! You don't see me branding the countries that failed to make your WC shit do you? Of course I label the whole game shit but that's beside the point.
