nrl's having a shit year this year, big whoop. Popular teams are doing shit, Wests, Dragons, Broncos, etc. they removed the biff, removed the shoulder charge and reffing has been abysmal. So TV ratings are down and crowds are slightly down. And NRL crowds will always be below AFL cause nrl is better watched at home, AFL at the ground.

But despite all that, 2 million watching a prelim final. NOT BAD.

Why don't the NRL double the AFL in ratings? .

Pretty similar to other recent GFs not involving the swans. The NRL will suffer a similare reduction without the storm, as seen in previous years also.

if Souths had of qualified for their first GF in 42 years next week theres absolutely no doubt the NRL GF would have cracked 4 Million again

While the VFL needs the SWines to have a 4 as their starting number for GF TV ratings
the NRL does not necessarily need the Storm to achieve this & with a return to a 7pm kickoff ... certainly won't in coming years
