any of you eastern staters (yes that includes the port powder puffs) is better than the chardonnay sipping, yuppy, turn on their own, leave if their team is losing, frontrunning eGirls.
I do however agree with the port power fella about boganwood (the only magpies) in Siddee (which is a crap city & far too like london).
Hard to admit, but Melbourne is THE home of footy despite the greatest ever player, Stephen Michael did not play VFL.
I saw him play many games. His son could have been another great, but that was not his fate. The why's and wherefore's are pointless.
Sandilands for Brownlow.
Pav for Coleman.
Belly for the Norm Smith he deserved it in 1999 (I was there when Seagull Grant thought it was a chip)
Freo for the first of many premierships.
Probably too much to ask for with Judd & Kerr in the team, but for the chardonnay eGirls to get the wooden spoon would be absolutely priceless & see their membership drop to less than that of the Western (bad name) Bulldogs.

Sorry "Gran Raper", maybe you should be parading your mullet in Norfolk Island, anyway why go to Bali unless where I live is shit (like you) or has crap weather (like Victoria). I aint no Vic, just a footy fella who reckons the "Winners" in the 70's & 80's at 6pm after countdown was the ants pants (I used to love Carlton). Never been better tv for all Aussies EVER!
Maybe a vote is required?!
:P

Do you still have a soft spot for the Blues?beachlover wrote:I aint no Vic, just a footy fella who reckons the "Winners" in the 70's & 80's at 6pm after countdown was the ants pants (I used to love Carlton).
Also what's this about the "Winners"? A footy tv show I assume?

I have vague memories as a kid of Countdown.

The Winners at 6pm each Sunday on channel 2 hosted by Drew Morphett. When it was about the only VFL you could see.
Fathers and sons would sit transfixed and the world would stop for that glorious hour. The theme song with Phil Manassa running & kicking that awesome goal. The "Buzz" taking mark of the day & kicking goal of the day regularly. Ken Hunter doing gutsy stuff. It was the sort of stuff Sam Kekovich could wax lyrically about.
After Freo, probably Kangas, then Blues, but in reality don't we all hate any opposition?
I'm in my late 30's so young pups may need to ask their Dads about the Winners. When you do it watch for his eyes to go wistful as he remembers the days.
They were very good times.

"The Winners" sounds like it was a cool footy program. Living in Sydney all my life, it's no wonder Sydneysiders like myself haven't heard of it before. ATM all we get is the Footy Show on Thursday nights sometimes before midnight if we are lucky.
I used to enjoy the Sunday Channel 7 footy program with Rex Hunt. Was it "The Footy Panel", anyone remember that show? Hopefully when Channel 7 starts broadcasting footy again, such programs will return to our screens.
