Wow, not only winning, but attracting great crowds and providing wonderful economic benefits for the Gold Coast.

Did someone suggest the Suns were a basketcase? Surely not right? :-$

Yes you're right. The Gold Coast is buzzing and they love their AFL/Suns.

Meanwhile the Titans are out spruiking heavily discounted tickets for their games.

Yes, the suns was a ticketed game so you had to pay extra even if member without reserved seating. The suns already run at a profit as own half the management rights to the stadium.

They just got the rights to host the big day out for the next three years. More money in the bank.

Yes that's right. It is also used for quite a few conferences I believe. Plus the commonwealth games are coming. That will be interesting as the suns will be playing finals and with the ground unavailable wondering what they will do.

THE embattled Gold Coast are on the brink of financial ruin as it emerged the level of debt on the Titans' empire has blown out to an extraordinary $35 million.

As the Titans head to the Federal Court today to fight wind-up proceedings against its property arm, The Courier-Mail can reveal the magnitude of the club's financial haemorraghing, which is worse than the initial forecasted debts of $25-30 million.

That report is 12 months old but it seems they are still in the same position - their CEO resigned!

David May quits as chief executive of Gold Coast Titans
UPDATED TUE 11 JUN 2013, 10:57 AM AEST
Gold Coast Titans chief executive David May has quit less than a year after joining the club, citing personal reasons.

May tendered his resignation on Monday, effective immediately, with club co-owner Darryl Kelly to step in as interim chief executive until a permanent replacement is found.

"It's been a tremendously difficult decision but I have a number of personal issues I need to deal with, here and at home in the UK, over the next few months," May said in a statement.

"This will prevent me from being able to fulfil my obligations as CEO of the Titans.

"It's been a dramatic 12 months but I am tremendously proud of my work at the Titans.

"I am enormously proud that we have eradicated the debt and the club is ... operating at a profit."

May joined the club last July, replacing former managing director Michael Searle, to help dig the Titans out of multimillion-dollar debts.

It is understood his deteriorating relationship with executive director and majority shareholder Searle was a factor in his resignation.

Titans football Manager Scott Clark says he does not think May's departure will be a distraction for the players.

"A lot can happen in other departments," he said.

"The football side wouldn't even know about it most of the time because they're just focussed on their job, which is to go out and win some football games and train hard.

'So I don't think it will have much impact on the football team at all, to be honest."

Me thinks the boat is sinking and the rats are leaving!
