6,324 went to see a winless 2nd year expansion club get thrashed by 100 points. How many at Leichart?
Imagine how bad some of these Sydney nRL teams crowds would be if they were as shit as the Giants?
ahhhhh
that's never going to happen
we'd never fuck expansion up like the VFL have here
our worst teams on their worst day would not embarrass themselves & our sport like the midgets do weekly to the VFL
& I'm still waiting for bad weather to hit a midgets home game in Sydney
they have been blessed with some great sunny weather
it won't last
crowds of 1500 don't occur in the NRL
but they will though in the VFL on this day

lol you are a naive idiot Raiderdave,
didnt the League try a team in the 90s in SA and WA only for them to fold?
:

you ignorant fumbling fuckwit
neither of them folded .... they were casualties of the Super League war peace deal
the ARL insisted they go for peace to happen
News Ltd closed them up
both were doing far .. far better then the Midgets are 15 years later
Perth will join our great comp again in 2017 & what a joyous occasion it will be
The Pirates will be a strong club on field from the opening whistle of their first game , a strong list & have great support
unlike the worst sporting franchise in the history of Australian sport
the Midgets

Sure they were Raiderdave......lets see the NRL doesn't get more crowds because of the weather, public transport, is a better TV game, they don't get more members cause its not their culture, they now get less TV figures because its fudged......but, but, but!
More excuses from Raiderdave - the fact is the Storm started when those sides folded....they didn't have the foresight, the passion or the desire to see it thru. NRL stands for NO GUTS!
wow
the NRL makes the right decision to hold off on expansion .. ie not rush it & have it cost them a motza .. like a certain pack of other fuckwits in singlets have
&
the feet stamping & hissy fits start
its not fair
its not fair
they don't have any guts
well.... they do have brains

No NRL never rushed expansion - Adelaide, Hunter Mariners, 2nd Brissy side. No they've never fucked up expansion. Hahaha
ahhhh.... super league war anyone
nothing to do with fucking up expansion you illiterate ****

However crowd numbers in the first season were the fifth highest of any first-grade club that year, but dwindled to sixteenth in the second season. The Adelaide club was shut down at the end of the 1998 season as a result of poor on-field performances, dwindling crowd numbers, financial losses and a reduction in the number of teams in the NRL.

The Reds even recruited local identity and decorated WAFL and West Coast Eagles (AFL) player Adrian Barich. Barich, having grown up in Canberra reverted from Australian rules football to rugby league, finishing his career with seasons with the Reds, however he never played in first grade. [2]. 1995 Home Jersey After declaring that the club may not have the financial resources to compete in the 1996 ARL Optus Cup, a major sponsorship with the Rupert Murdoch-owned Sunday Times gave the club some much needed money. By mid 1996 club support had dwindled to just over 6,000. Perth Reds (1997) In 1997 the Reds became one of eight ARL teams to join the rival Super League during the dispute known as the Super League war. They changed their name to the Perth Reds for the 1997 Super League season,[1] and adopted a jersey of red, white and black. Although the club had made some promising signings, such as Rodney Howe and Robbie Kearns, the crushing $10 million debt that hung over the club (from having to pay the airfares for all visiting teams) at the end of the season led to Super League axing the Perth Reds on 1 October 1997.

The Crushers, whose whole existence was against the backdrop of the Super League war, were an unsuccessful club. They had to compete for support with the other Brisbane-based club, the Brisbane Broncos, who were already well-established. The Crushers only competed in the three seasons of the Australian Rugby League's premiership, winning the wooden spoon twice for being last in the competition. Despite the wealth of star players the Crushers managed to attract, they were financially unsustainable and competitively unsuccessful, which ultimately led to their demise at the end of 1997.

The Gold Coast Chargers were a professional rugby league club which played in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership from 1988 to 1994, the Australian Rugby League premiership from 1995 to 1997, and the National Rugby League premiership in 1998. They first played under the name Gold Coast-Tweed Giants, then Gold Coast Seagulls, and finally Gold Coast Chargers. The Gold Coast-Tweed Giants were admitted to the New South Wales Rugby League premiership for the 1988 season, along with the Brisbane Broncos and Newcastle Knights. Due to a clause in Brisbane's licence, only one team (the Broncos) could play in South-East Queensland. As a result the Giants played out of the now demolished Seagulls Stadium in Tweed Heads, New South Wales, just over the border, which was home to the Tweed Heads Seagulls RLFC. Gold Coast and Group 18 provided a nursery of young players in which the club was able to draw on for recruitment. The Giants were formed, swiftly, after the Internationals Syndicate Including, John Sattler, Peter Gallagher, Bob Hagan and Doug Ryan had missed out on their bid to win the contract to bring a Brisbane team into the Sydney competition. They were joined by three legends of rugby league, Bob McCarthy coach, Graeme Langlands team manager and Ken Irvine sprint coach. The Giants were a team that spanned both New South Wales and Queensland. However due to this the club struggled for acceptance in either state.

If they were successful they would still be here!Interesting to note that
Interesting to note Adrian Barich being recruited from AFL/WAFL to play RL, just like Hunt and Folau. Just shows when RL supporters whinge about AF starting the war by recruiting Hunt and Falou they conveniently forget this fact.......hypocrates! Just like you Raiderdave!
