The Seven Network's AFL Game Day on Sunday showed footage of a man, seemingly during the same match, wearing Collingwood apparel and screaming about indigenous players.

"Give it to Goodes because he's black. Give it to (Lewis) Jetta because he's black. It's indigenous round umpire," the barracker shouted.

A Magpies spokesman said if the man was a Collingwood member and the club was able to identify him, he would have his membership cancelled in line with the club's zero tolerance policy to racism.

It certainly does look like the 50's eels. It certainly does...And im afraid to say its not just Collingwood supporters...it needs to be acknowledged. In my real experience... In all my sporting clubs/teams, I've played marngrook the least yet in its ranks it has had by far and away the most racists...my mArngrook team in alice springs also had numerous openly expressive racists.

Quite unbelievable now I think of it...

Acknowledgement is the first step AFL supporters of this site. Please take a stand, acknowledge your code has serious racist issues above and beyond the general Australian society. Im a marngrook fan and I acknowledge it.

Back on topic. Its disgusting to see more vile filth racist supporters of this code. Im more and more inclined to believe my theory is true. This code is quite stark in its southern australian anglo celtic dominated supporter and player base compared to RL and I'd suggest australian society in general. The distinction between 'white and black' in this code is compelling and it is quite clear racial intolerance is prevalent.

Serious issues and imo not representative of aussie society at large. No, I'm sad to say its a code definitely consumed by a more racist subsection of our society. I'm also sad to say that this season, while playing the game, I've already been witness to two racist comments from players..."coon" and "Aboriginal"...one wonders how many more I've missed and one wonders how many more have occurred in the AFL comp and amongst its crowds which have not been picked up...

Unfortunately Dave is the wrong person to be talking about this issue. He probably the most homophobic, racists poster on this board. He is also very inconsistent and when this happens in RL there is no condemnation.
I like the majority of AR posters on here acknowledge that there is an issue and the fact that crowd members are now being singled or by the crowd and the players is a strong sign that this sort of behaviour is no longer tolerated. I agree that it could be worse at suburban grounds across the land, im not sure of this one.
The thing is, that this is not just happening in our sport, it is happening in all sports across the land and around the world. In RL I would have to say that from a crowd point of view the same is happening at large games, when the passion is running high, like in the state of origin last year. It is unfortunate that the NRL are about one step behind on this issue and that nothing was done about the racist comments made at that game. I think my final point is one that has not been acknowledged by people like Dave, which is another reason why just about all of his points are invalid and he is in no way a good spokesperson on this issue.

While racism occurs in RL crowds, it is quite clear it happens more in Marngrook unfortunately. RL has attracted a much more multicultural crowd and player base, reflective of Australian society at large. The supporter and player base in "Australian" 'rules', if one were to conduct an analysis, would be, as eels correctly states, ethnically reflective of Australia in the 1950s. Hence the blatant expressive ugly racism we see time and time and time again.

AFL supporters, its time to stop deflecting to the small number of RL racism cases we are all overly familiar with now and acknowledge the fact marngrook footy is rife with racists. The AFL have, and good on em, now its time for you folks to stand up and say, racism is rife within my sport and I don't want it anymore.
