For fox exclusive games give me a bit of time. Probabaly about the same.

About 500K a game average for AFL with FTA and PTV. Maybe a bit more. Whats your average 400K?

AFL :- 4.25 FTA matches each week(nearly all live) & 9 PTV matches.

NRL:- 3 FTA matches & 5 PTV matches.


What kind of victory is that? I guess when your supporting a lost cause you take whatever you can get.

All the coverage in the world will not change the facts that the NRL rates more on FTA and FOX.............Facts seem to be hard for these AFL fans to handle...........

AFL pay TV exclusive no overlap average 329k (could only find one game) Looks like a win to me.
On top of that we have over 1.2 average for Friday nights. That's 2 for 2.

You have copped a flogging in here the past few weeks and so what did you come up with? You want to compare a 2 game broadcast Not even a game) with our Sunday FTA only ratings ? When all of our games are broadcast are on PTV as well as FTA. Your ratings are smaller so you need to compare your PTV exclusive games with our simulcast games but only give us the PTV ratings.
You reek of desperation mate.
You need to compare like for like your Friday night broadcast with our Friday night game is a win for the AFL despite your game finishing at the kid friendly time of 9.30 and ours at midnight. One win for us. AFL PTV exclusive games are quite rare with just about all of them on at the same time as other games. Yours are rarely on at the same time. There is no like for like comparison, just bigger complete numbers for the NRL against our smaller incomplete numbers
Like for like you lose and you can't handle that.

What happens when an AFL game is on pay and ftA ? Each compromises the other. I think total figures is the go otherwise gets too complex and each code could argue this that or the other as is evident by this thread . So if you get 300 on fox for nrl and 500 on ftA and say AFL only got 300 on pay, it's not really telling the full picture I don't think. Similarly, if you get 300 for nrl on fox and no free to air , it's a bit unfair because you are only measuring those people who have fox who choose to watch that nrl game whereas if it was also on ftA would have likely got 500 also . So maybe it's a pudding contest not worth having due to so many variables and ways if viewing it.

No I'm not lol. I'm saying it is pointless.. As many games are on ftA at same time . And you're only measuring those people who own pay tv . As most nrl games are on pay only also skews it. Living in qld if you don't have pay you rarely get to watch rl. So if you love rl and don't follow broncos you really need pay tv. Whereas if your in qld or NSW you get every swans and gained game live on ftA. I just dont think you can compare. Fact is on total, which you make some Arguments for not doing, AFL has higher average per round. Nothing to do with extra game, which given gains crowd , would drag average down. But I agree too many variables as you point out.

Here are some AFL possible improvements that could maximise PTV ratings and they would produce a much bigger jump in PTV ratings then what you suggested for the NRL: Monday nights, all games on at different times with no overlap, PTV games for the SA/WA/Qld and NSW teams to local markets and a little thing called exclusive games to PTV would push the AFL pay TV ratings up to at least the same levels if not in front of the NRL PTV ratings in my opinion. Its not going to happen but the way that you pretend that only your games could get improve their PTV ratings is quite comical.

I would say the best 2 matches are on FTA, there is at least 1 game a week on FTA that is a terrible matchup. But overall totally agree, none of it matters to much anyways.


The Gap for FTA ratings and Fox ratings is huge and the NRL is holding this baby up every week.

I'm not talking about overall improvements, just foxtel rating improvements. The ratings were pretty much neck and neck for foxtel comparing our round 1 with your Saturday and Sunday fox ratings. That was even taking into consideration FTA broadcasts of all games. The only game exclusive to fox and not overlapping rated 320k. It involved one high rating team and one low rating team, so it wasnt what I call a great game either.
