I'm thinking the crowd for the suns game will be significantly reduced as it is pissing down here. I'm thinking of not going and the anticipated fair weather follower who may have been going probably wouldn't go I would say . Will be a good indicator of die in the wool fans however ... I predict maybe 8-9 thousand maybe judging by the weather and there bring no parking at the ground making it hard to get to .... I can't see me walking 15 minutes in the rain to be honest to get there and sitting in the rain. If it were the pies playing however I would folk out the extra dough for undercover and get the bus.
so
the NRL SE Qld Derby on the Gold Coast attracts 23K

&

the VFL equivalent ... 9K
yep thats about where the 2 codes are in this region ATM

oh & we're always told rain doesn't deter VFL fans
or at the very least according to marcus ... only by a few K
I think that would be a relevant comparison if you wee comparing like with like rd ... But you are comparing the dominant code Nrl to a code trying to get a foot hold re crowd numbers. If suns were able to get same or near a nrl much they would be doing okay. They do alright though. And yes you are right , die hard AFL fans go rain hail or shine ... What we have with suns is people dipping their toe in so to speak so you're going to get all those type of people probably choosing another game to have a look at something they're still not sure or committed fans

According to the BOM, there's been 34.4 mm of rain today. There's no doubt that that will be keeping thousands away.
