The AFL and sport in general has done far more to unite races than cause racist divides. You only have to look at the way indigenous players are treated now compared to 20 years ago.

How often would indigenous people be celebrated in a predominantly Caucasian society like Sydney or Melbourne if it wasnt in sport?

Just on this topic, i went to the wanderers game on the weekend and had the pleasure of sitting next to 2 AFL fans that wanted to see what all the fuss was about the wanderers crowds/atmosphere.

The young lady and her mother were swans fans, surprise surprise for a second there i thought she was going to say GWS fan.....

Anyways they both live out west and they were Bulldogs fans about 10 years ago. I asked the young lady why she stopped following the Bulldogs and she says that there was to many Wogs that follow the team now(she said that there was to many lebos).

At that very moment i realized that she was a racist and at that very moment i felt good about not liking the AFL and loving my rugby league/Football.

She must be blind or have no idea what wogs look like, the wanderers crowd is one of the most diverse crowds you will ever see in this country.

Those two lady's at the wanderers game would have felt like they were being invaded.

Yeah I have a similar story. I went to the storm game on Sunday and I sat down next to this guy


He was wearing a storm jersey and he was yelling what do you mean Mahe Fonua is black? Any way I was really confused and walked away. I think my story is more believable then eel's story to tell you the truth.
