Yes pookus, your 'God' of the AFL is arguably the biggest thug to come out of Australian sport, ever... 'God'
And as for your private school trollop. Ummm if you call a good education getting a silver spoon rammed up your arse so far that you can eat your shite sprinkled breakfast off it. Then yes, ok, those folk are 'well educated'![]()

That's well said there pies. You're half clever. Xman, stewie and pookus take note. Here's a man who's intelligent enough to know and appreciate irony when he sees it. He's also clever enough to know that going against me on this will just make him look stoopid. Xman stewie and pookus, I know it's impossible for a trio of confused buffoons to get this but in future I want you all to look up to and worship pies as your leader. He's by far and away the superior, and very rare AFL fan. :Dpiesman2011 wrote:Have to agree with you on this one KE.King-Eliagh wrote:Pies welcome on board. No I'm not trying to say all NRL players are this way or that. That's something Xman and co have ignorantly chanted since they joined. No I'm simply citing the irony that the AFL has specifically chosen NRL players as ambassadors of their game while Xman and co would have you believe NRL players are, and I quote, "uneducated thugs".piesman2011 wrote:The multicultural ambasador role (is that what you are referring to KE?) has been given to high profile players who usually have a connection with a certain group of people or a place. Sure they had to have a clean image to go with that. So in the statistically insignificant sample of the 2 NRL players that the AFL has stolen from the NRL and given this role to I would say they have been good role models so far. Theres no way that the AFL would have touched anyone with a criminal record or problems with past indiscretions, we have enough trouble with our players as it is.
What are you trying to say KE, that all NRL players are excellent role models so other codes need to steal them to improve the image of their codes? Thats just strange.
i'm sure you'd appreciate the irony here wouldnt you pies?

I
I stand by the education assumption and ask you to show me one piece of evidence to discredit it.
Everything I have read points to significant advantages for participants of the private school sector that's why I send my son and I can assure you he is definitely from working stock. As are all his friends.
As far as Abletts goes well he's a scumbag not a thug. A deadset lowlife indefensible but both our codes have plenty of them
What an inarticulate response ke I expect better. It was posted tongue in cheek but obviously we hit a mark. I suppose the rah-rah's calling you the uneducated, unwashed masses for a hundred years has left a rather raw wound :DKing-Eliagh wrote:Pookus, who's that former AFL player fans and officials refer to as 'God' again?

What are you on about pookus? Roy Masters makes up his opinions because he's just not clever enough to view reality, and he gets paid for it.
Yes significant advantages for the private school sector. They get given the exam questions before their exams, they get spoon fed what and how assessment will take place. Again if you call that 'education' then yes, the private school lads are getting educated. I prefer to refer to is as 'spoon fed here comes the airoplane mummy and daddy pay top dollar for this babysitters club education'.
Yes the stats show those kids get good 'grades' and get to uni easier. But their ability to think for themselves and understand the social and cultural environment outside the cotton wool pamperfest they call school is something they generally cant do.
Why not join your son up to talking footy pookus? I'll give him a proper education

I agree with what you say here and I thought long and hard about sending my son to public schools for those exact reasons. But the stats these days are trully damning. The public school system is floundering. The fact that NRL is not played in private schools has definately had a detrimental effect. You only have to see the pollies fawning over union and AFL to realise this. They usually belong to some old boys club and there love for the games follows them in to professional life.Like it or not the private school boys run the government, courts and control most the wealth. This leaves league with a significant disadvantage. This is what Masters was alluding to and I happen to agree. Its the age-old adage its not what you know but who you know.

Is league not played in private schools because it is a poor mans version of rugby union, and private schools don't want to lower their standards by introducing the outcast English sport?

Yet alls the while league players show more athleticism and skill in every single way. Proven by the fact of so many nrl players switching to union and automatically selected for national union squads. And we've even had two players make it straight into AFL sides and become AFL ambassadorsStewie wrote:Is league not played in private schools because it is a poor mans version of rugby union, and private schools don't want to lower their standards by introducing the outcast English sport?

Seems like private schools would be raising their standards by bringing the code to their schools. And itseems that atm Private school boys just ain't tough fit skilled or athletic compared to your public school folk. There's another point for ya pookus

None of this explains why league isn't played in private schools. btw Isfail and K are only ambassadors in the rugby states, well Izzy was until he found football too hard and quit.King-Eliagh wrote:Yet alls the while league players show more athleticism and skill in every single way. Because RL is too physically demanding and more suited to kids who are in the public school system i.e. physically tough rather than poncy spoon fed upturned nosed lads who've only recently completed their toilet training. Comprehende stewie?

What a douche you are KE!man. I know you were prob one of the unfortunates I speak of who've been spoon fed and wrapped in a giant nappy for protection for too long. But please understand. I'm having a go at the system, not the unfortunate outcomes it delivers in our society.
