Why the Swans have made it

Post by cos789 »

Adam Goodes has stepped down as co-captain of AFL club Sydney, with Kieren Jack promoted to partner Jarrad McVeigh in the job.

Coach John Longmire said it was a great story for the state.

"It's a great thing for football in NSW to have a couple of local NSW boys leading the team into the 2013 season," Longmire said.

Jack, the son of rugby league legend Garry Jack, said it was a great honour, particularly as it had taken a fight by him to even forge an AFL career.

How many local players outside of rl "heartland" does rl have ?
That's right, they only have one team and that's for sale.

.
Nice try Cos.

that Iron chef joke was from 2009. Show me figures for Iron Chef out-rating the Swans in 2012. Stop living in the past.

Shouldn't be too hard for you to provide some figures. Assuming you're not just making this up. Which you are.

Yes it can look like the swannies have, as cos lettuce says, 'made it'. But unfortunately cos lettuce lives in the most isolated bubble of a city in the world, perth  Fact of the matter is the swannies have about 8k solid supporter base in a city of close on 5 million. The other 20k of their supporter base/avg are what is commonly termed "the chardonnay set". The folk who dont give two skid marks about the game, dont understand it, and never will. It's something for them to do on the weekend. A sport for these 20k imbeciles to yell out "comon ref" in front of girlfriends who are none the wiser  Yep, I've seen it, these facts, too many times. But cos lettuce i can see that from the perspective of one from an isolated small time, small city like perth that you're everyday imbecile like yourself could percieve that sydney swans have "made it" But in reality the poor club is relying on superficial pretentious twats

They have more members and average crowds than any Sydney sporting club, and have for years. Deal with it.

"Relocation, definitely not," Davison said.
"I don't believe it is the way to go. And I am not picking on Cronulla. Sydney clubs have so much history and heritage. There is a second-tier competition. That's where Newtown play."

The NRL must have 16 clubs to fulfil its eight-game-a-week commitment to Channel 9 and Fox Sports. Southeast Queensland is almost certain to win a place if the NRL expands in three to four years.

But the chance remains that an existing club is relocated, as is commonplace in US sports, and as happened with the now hugely successful Sydney Swans in the AFL.
