But aren't players "representing" the Indigenous community by playing for the Indigenous all stars?

It's a rep game.

For the season opener....

So much for Dave saying theyd get 1.7m!
Well its looks like a increase from last years opener which was 1.3m, this opener looks like it will hit about 1.4m which is still an increase on last year.

Btw were did you get those ratings from xman?

I do find your comments funny xman, i mean we have just broke opening crowd and tv ratings records and you still come up with a mindless zombie like comment again.....................
The 2013 NRL Telstra Premiership has kicked off in record style with the biggest ever Sydney crowd and television audience for a season-opener watching the Rabbitohs beat the Roosters.

More than 1.37 million viewers nationally watched the opening match of the NRL season across the Nine, NBN and WIN Networks, a seven per cent increase from the Thursday night season-opener between the Knights and Dragons in 2012 (1.28 million).

Sydney led the way with an average viewing audience of 560,438, up 16 per cent from 2012 (481,570).

The Sydney ratings are the highest for a season-opener since the OzTam ratings began in 2001.

The crowd of 35,952 is also the biggest for a stand-alone Round 1 Telstra Premiership match in Sydney.

In Brisbane, the average audience was 290,116, up 22 per cent from 238,329 in 2012, while in Melbourne 35,643 viewers watched the coverage on GEM.

those regional ratings wouldn't be right
just ....374K for the Regionals
wot rot ....

nah .... it would be ova 500K easily as this game would have attracted plenty of interest in country NSW & QLD

896K for the Metro markets
500K for the regionals

1.5 million on TV for our opening game of the year .....
that will probably not be betterd by ANY ... Vicky Kicky Club game this year I'd say
& it wasn't even 2 of our bigger Sydney sides

add up to 1.3 Million for Fridays game
& the NRL is just booming .... booming

wow

Some of these figures seem a bit rubbery. Are you really suggesting Sunday had almost as many regional viewers as 5 city?

Including NZ is nice but there is no way we can realistically include ratings from every country. This is Australia.
