Hmmm. Your two standout clubs are the broncos and Souths. Yet their tally is only better than 4 AFL clubs and 2 have existed for less than 2 years. Not to mention the fact the AFL season is still 4-5 weeks away.
Raiderdave tried this BS a few weeks ago. When you look at the figures the AFL has actually increased in member numbers by about 180k in 5 years. In the same time the NRL has only increased by about 150k.

but
they started off a base of 600K ( built up over 25 years )
meaning they've increased their total by 25% ... or 5 % a year
the NRL started off a base of just 80K in 2008
meaning the NRL"s tally has increased by 150% .... or 30% a year
