Re: AFL vs NRL (Memberships in 2013)

Post by pussycat »

I was interested to read today how Souths membership was up 18% on this time last year. And that follows on the back of yesterdays announcement that the Roosters membership was up 27% - wow - No wonder were the No.1 code in this country.

it would be interesting to see membership break downs of AFL and NRL clubs,

total revenue & break downs, every club has different prices and structure, kids prices, adult and family deals, i have friends that have brought a broncos, & a hawks memberships for their pets.
you can spend $20 on a kids membership or $300 for my self, & they all get included in the clubs final membership tellys,
eddie must have at least 30k collingwood memberships
jeff kennett must at least have another 10 k for the hawks

1) were? so you're admitting you are no longer the number 1 code?
2) oh, and you were never the number 1 code in this country. Ever.

Roosters cheapest fully ticketed membership is about $100 cheaper than the cheapest Swans fully ticketed membership.

Swans Red Zone 11 prices; http://membership.sydneyswans.com.au/fa ... ed-zone-11

Roosters Chookpen prices; http://www.sydneygameday.com.au/secures ... rships.php

so the roosters have about 10k members, less than 16 of the AFLs 18 clubs.

Yep, Nrl definitely number 2

Adelaide - 42,000+ (45,105)
Brisbane - 14,252 (20,762)
Carlton - 34,663 (45,800)
Collingwood - 55,000 (72,688)
Essendon - 42,020 (47,708)
Fremantle - 20,000 (42,918)
Geelong - 30,819 (40,205)
Gold Coast - 8,502 (11,204)
Greater Western Sydney - 9,416 (10,241)
Hawthorn - 48,872 (60,841)
Melbourne - 22,962 (35,459)
North Melbourne - 22,800 (33,423)
Port Adelaide - 26,032 (35,543)
Richmond - 40,921 (53,027)
St Kilda - 25,870 (35,440)
Sydney - 25,000 (29,873)
West Coast Eagles - 52,222 (57,377)
Western Bulldogs - 19,642 (30,007)

NRL (2012 number's bolded)
Brisbane – 17,237 (26,216)
Canterbury Bulldogs – 11,498 (13,544)
Canberra – 6,668 (8,264)
Cronulla Sharks – 7,000 (5,126)
Gold Coast – 6,040 (6,674)
Manly – 6,031 (10,466)
Melbourne – 9,745 (14,762)
Newcastle – 14,195 (19,399)
New Zealand – 7,113 (10,938)
North Queensland – 9,178 (10,336)
Parramatta Eels – 12,013 (11,012)
Penrith – 3,609 (5,686)
St.George – 16,323 (19,223)
South Sydney – 21,236 (22,154)
Sydney – 7,689 (10,256)
Wests Tigers – 7,628 (10,305)

Hmmm. Your two standout clubs are the broncos and Souths. Yet their tally is only better than 4 AFL clubs and 2 have existed for less than 2 years. Not to mention the fact the AFL season is still 4-5 weeks away.

Raiderdave tried this BS a few weeks ago. When you look at the figures the AFL has actually increased in member numbers by about 180k in 5 years. In the same time the NRL has only increased by about 150k.

So the AFL is actually getting further ahead!

How old Are these figures? You've got the Roosters on 7.5 k when there closer to 12k.

Even using these old figures Souths have more than Brisb, Free, G Coast, GWS, Bulldogs and if the figures were updated, they'd be past Melb, Nth Melb, and closing in on Syd , St K and Port A!

AFL in Nsw will have about 40k members this year, and growing =D>

ah no ............ the Midgets will have about 3.5K... out of 10K
& the Swines
about 15K to 18K out of 30K

meaning vicky kicky will have about 20K members in NSW for its 2 clubs

less then a third of the combined total of just 3 NSW based NRL clubs

South Sydney 25K
the Dragons 20K
Newcastle 20K

VFL in NSW ... on deaths door

end of
Raiderdave saying that only 15k - 18k of the Swans members would be based in NSW this year. Proven wrong. Stop trying to defend the resident ******, KE. [-X

Freo haven't update their figures so theyll have near 35k by now. They never update them til the season starts but always get near 45k so youre dreaming if you think ANY NRL team will get close.

According to the roosters website theyre on 17k.
Broncos are on 18k.
Souths are on 22k.

These are higher than the lions on 14.6k, the suns on around 10k, the giants on 10k,

Melbourne demons on 23.5k
Nth Melbourne 24k
Port Adelaide are on 29k

So basically only the top three standout NRL teams have more than the bottom 3 AFL teams, which are expansion teams on the bottom of the ladder.

700k members v 200k.

It aint even a contest I'm afraid, and the gap widens every year.

the VFL added 2 extra teams & about 25K members cockhead
meaning their real increase is about 155K

the same as the NRL's

but

they started off a base of 600K ( built up over 25 years )
meaning they've increased their total by 25% ... or 5 % a year

the NRL started off a base of just 80K in 2008
meaning the NRL"s tally has increased by 150% .... or 30% a year

not a contest
