Yeah get with the times. Tha ACC has exposed that drug policy as NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! Best practice? The instant they use drugs they cop PUNISHMENT! That's the ONLY way to get the message across! Anything less is open to abuse, as the AFL were already told by Collingwood in case you forgot! No more three strikes BS! One strike and you're out - like it is with PED's in the NRL by the way!! I want that expanded to illicit drugs and after this I think we will.
One strike with PEDs in AFL too dopey

AFL, best elicit drugs policy in world sport. Almost every other sport follows WADA which gives infinite strikes for out of competition illicit drug use, simply because they never test for it

AFL. ILLICIT drugs policy = a joke. Not taking it seriously, and neither are WADA if they aren't testing for them out of comp.

The ACC has this covered. Expect arrests next month, across both codes and a few other sports as well.

Possession at least, which is a criminal act!

I'm big enough to admit that the NRL hasn't handled the illicit drug issue any better than the AFL. I always said that. ut the AFL has been worse, trying to sweep it under the carpet concentrating on PED's and treating illicit drugs with contempt! The NRL is at least demanding answers across the whole gambit of drugs! PE and illicit!

The world of sport are treating the illicit drug problem with contempt!! Not only that, the world is too! How many people within the community are tested for illicit dugs?

Thats the point. Illicit drugs are illegal already and everyone is required to obey that Law. The general community are tested for illicit drug use for select jobs, just like sportsman on game day by ASADA. The general community are never tested in their own time or on vacation. That's it. That's the worlds illicit drug policy right there.

Then in addition AFL players are tested in their own time and on vacation. They are therefore subject to the harshest illicit drugs policy in world sport.

The cops can't act unless they actually catch someone with drugs in their possession at the time they are detained.

Cant be caught red handed by an ACC report. You need to actually be in possession.

Limitations on Disclosure of Findings
Legal provisions prevent the ACC from publicly disclosing detailed information about the nature of the matters contained in this report. This includes the disclosure of information specifically referencing players, clubs and any information that could identify other individuals involved. Particular sporting bodies have received classified briefings on matters relevant to them.

As such, the report focuses on describing the broad nature of the activities, threats and vulnerabilities and includes intelligence judgements about the likely future trajectory of these issues.

http://www.crimecommission.gov.au/publi ... f-findings

ACC chief executive John Lawler, under pressure to defend his agency's handling of last week's sensational report warning crime gangs were infiltrating the major professional sports, said the operation had largely gathered intelligence rather than evidence and was not intended to result in arrests. "The purpose of such an operation is not to make arrests," Mr Lawler told Senate estimates yesterday. "The purpose is to understand the threat, risk and vulnerabilities."

Where? Did I say anything about public naming?

NO!!

The ACC would have told the cops PRIVATELY the names of the players to follow, and the cops will trap them RED HANDED!!

they clearly said the intention of the report was to gather intelligence, NOT to result in arrests.

What part of that dont you understand?

Yet still multiple times tougher than any other sports policy

The thing people dont understand about self reporting s that it was designed for a purpose: to make players who may be experimenting with illicit drugs dob themselves in so they are then target tested.
