The issue at hand seems to be that Melbourne have some very find QCs and former judges on the board and in coterie groups who are willing to challenge the league rules and regulations. Rugby league people of ALL supporters should know that most league rules are anticompetitive at best since the NSWRL lost its salary cap case, and the AFL may not be willing to put that to the test. Hence the rumoured negotiated settlement.

Tanking is no more serious than salary cap cheating. In fact I would say its not as serious given teams involved in salary cap cheating deny other teams a fair chance at making the finals or winning the GF. Look at the storm. They denied a GF to every team in 2009. Who did the demons deny a GF to? No one!

Yet look at penalties the NRL has handed out to these crimes! Fines as low as $10k. Well done AFL for taking tanking seriously by closing down the incentive and punishing the offence appropriately =D>
