NRL The Focus of ACC Investigation

Post by Drac »

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/ ... 6574495675
MATCH fixing and illicit drug connections within the NRL are the report's main focus - and authorities are anxious for NRL bosses to reveal the names of clubs under suspicion;

THE NRL convinced other codes to appear at last Wednesday's press conference in Canberra, even though the other sports are far less implicated in the report;
The Sunday Telegraph has also learned that the government was blindsided when the AFL decided to out Essendon earlier in the week over their own doping concerns, and urgently brought forward the report's release, which was originally scheduled for March.

THE drug and corruption scandal enveloping Australian sport has snared six National Rugby League clubs, with the revelation they are named in the Australian Crime Commission's explosive report.

According to sources close to the investigation, players were tricked into taking so called "supplements", only to be later told that they had in fact taken banned substances.

The players were then later called upon and threatened with being "outed" as drug cheats unless they agreed to fix matches or pay money. According to sources, several players had fallen victim to the bribery racket and were mostly confined to the NRL and not other codes.

Oh dear, our NRL friends were so quick in slinging mud at the AFL. Now they're in hiding.

Interesting that illicit drugs use is a prominent part of the corruption which we now know primarily affects the NRL.

Yet where are the NRLs illicit drug test results?

Where are all their positive tests?

Where is their summit on the illicit drug problems facing society and their sport?

Their illicit drugs policy is a complete farce and all about protecting their name. Good thing we have organisations like the ACC who have shown everyone what the NRL really stand for: cheating, corruption, lies, filth!

Appear at the meeting, not attend their press conference.

The NRL are up to their necks in this issue! #-o

By doing this the club doctor is alerted to the players behaviour and they then undergo targeted testing, so they might as well have a strike.

That loophole has now been changed anyway.

People like you are just to stupid to get it. The fight against drugs has moved away from punitive measures because it just doesn't work.

I saw this posted on another forum and its dead right:
The AFLs 3 strike illicit drugs policy is in line with community standards and fully supported by Vic and Fed Police (they use a 3 strike protocol of diversion/rehab programs on first 2 strikes then more serious charges on the third - which is why you'll often see say 300 people arrested for drugs possession at the Big Day Out but only 120 charged - the others will have been diverted).

The AFL policy is targeting player health and welfare - it recognises that many people either A. make a silly error of judgement and with a slap on the wrist won't do it again, or B. that many people actually are battling undiagnosed mental 'conditions' whether depression/bi-polar or others - some of which need only to be treated effectively by a health professional.
Meanwhile silence from the NRL. How pathetic :roll:

:lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
sure d head ......
but heres how it ACTUALLY goes down

a player rings his clubs doctor to tell him he popped 6 eccy's last night , & this was after he smoked pot for 3 hours & did some coke .. oh & also smoked some crack ..ahhhhhhhh
for the 4th time this month 8-[
the club doctor pulls the VFL drug policy out from his desk draw

step one
go to the club room cupboard
step two
pull out the broom
step three
find a carpet n start sweeping :wink:

VFL .... wall to wall druggo filth [-X [-X [-( [-( [-(

Raid's right. This is a News Limited beat up. If the Telegraph had access in any way to the ACC report they would have named names! The AFL are in just as much bother as the NRL, but there's nothing in it for News Limited so they didn't bother.

Its only the club names that are confidential, not the number of clubs
