The Swans have been the highest drawing team across all football codes in Sydney for 18 YEARS IN A ROW. If the highest drawing team in the city isn't popular, what on Earth does that make the nRL teams that draw less people to their games?

the swines used to attract 36K fans a game about 6 years ... more then double the nearest Sydney NRL side
they won the premiership this year .. yet their crowd average was STILL the lowest in 16 Years (25K) ... & only barely ahead of the Bulldogs (24K)
VFL.... dying in NSW

Where's the Vfl's team in the nations capital?

How about all those millions in NSW and QLD that don't have a Vfl team to support?

National game my fucking arse.

More teams in more states. Is that so hard for you RL ******* to understand?

Even Cameron smith can understand the concept!

I live in Canberra. The place is a fucking toilet, and simply isn't big enough for an AFL team. We get 4 GWS games a year, and frankly that's more than we deserve.

But the assertion from Smith was that the AFL is more national than the nRL, and there hasn't been a single argument put forward on this thread by throwballers to counter Smith's statement.

It seems so, half the country gives a stuff about Vfl while the other half gives a stuff about RL, is that so damn hard to comprehend?

Both are not National and probably never will be simply because some places don't like the öther" code. No footy code will have teams in every State and Territory and in all their biggest cities ever unless other codes completely die out, and even though union is looking and smelling dead, it will never die out here just like the other codes won't.

Australia will always remain fractured in regards to the big sports out here, and so be it, it's bloody terrific if you ask me.

Not true. You see in Qld and NSW, AFL actually exists in the media. You do hear about it int he nightly news, when I was up in the Gold Coast last year Suns coach Bluey was on the back page after he got a contract extension and the Lions were in the sports report. Would the Storm get one mention in the Melbourne news if they had a shit season like the Lions? Hell no. Are they even in the news when they are playing well? Probably not very often. And then there is South Australia and Western Australia where rl gets only 4 mentions a year maximum. Even the SoO sometimes doesn't even get a mention on the local news here.

To summarise, AFL = national. nRL = regionally stunted.
