He just prefers football over the poor man's version of real rugby

he did yes ... & couldn't handle it
so decided to be a shirt lifter instead ....
Experts have said that if he didn't take up football he could have easily been a very good rl player as he had enormous potential. Anyway, he decided to play a better sport in the end and the rest is history. Another win for the good guys

Sydney... rl heartland?
sure they did ... sure
he failed at his first choice & realised he wasn't hard enough to play RL .. & chose the effeminent ... girly soft game that is vicky kicky
its no wonder kids who can't cut it in league ... are super stars in that fumbling bumbling mess of a game

Like izzy Falou? A star RL player but couldn't do a thing right in ARs.

But I suppose thats where the comparisons end. No one in AFL states would ever drop ARs for RL. In fact no one in AFL states plays RL full stop

That's all he did. He succeeded at RL at the highest level but failed dismally at AFL....

He enjoyed football more dimwit. Why would he continue playing poor man's rugby when he prefers a better and richer sport? He will make a shit load more $ playing for the Sydney Swans than he would say for Cronulla if he pursued a career in nRL.

Gary wasnt a big man, infact you would say that he would be slightly built for AFL at 178cm and 76 kilos. Do you think that a 21 year old Gary Jack could make it in modern RL or would he be to small?

he wouldn't have earned 55K in League ...as he wouldn't have got past park football level

however he's a world beater in the bumbling mess .. that is vicky kicky , wall to wall mediocrity is the victorian game

Times have really changed from back then, a real small bloke will only do good these days if they are a real talent like Matty Bowen, Preston Campbell and co, sadly not many that small make it now. On Jack, no idea, he was tough enough back then, but I'm not sure these days, there's some big fast boppers these days and with a 10 metre rule ...............

Who?
One of the sons of former Kangawhos rl player Garry Jack.

Gary would be hanging his head in shame
in the knowledge that he has .... 2 sons .. too scrawny weedy & whimpy to play league
how could be ever look Blocker Roach in the eye again at a Balmain reunion 8-[

poor Gary .. how embarrasing
To be fair Blocker Roach's son plays water-polo for the Australian Olympic team, i think if they ever met up for a phew cold ones they would both break out in tears before the first drink was finished......

Nah Blocker is proud of his son, seen a interview on ACA 6 months back about his son going to the Olympic games.
