The AFL aren't as bad as the nRL is though. They came to an agreement with the MCG to ban the showing of live odds during all matches at the MCG. =D>

If it meant getting less advertising money for the nRL, they would never agree to such a move. [-X
Mate the NRL just got 62m dollars over 5 years for a little segment in the broadcast about odds for the people that like to punt and it is the biggest of its kind in the country, there is no way in hell the AFL will pass up that sort of money From Tom Waterhouse and this post by you just proves how delusional you are mate.....

The AFL isnt desperate for cash like the NRL. Just look at the way the NRL sold control to Ch9 while the AFL demand to control their schedule

after investing millions into the game, much of which were one off payments for expansion which had been funded by a previous decades profits.

Yea i'm sure the AFL is in worlds of financial trouble. New inner-city stadium in Adelaide for 2014, redeveloped SCG for 2014, new Perth 60,000 seat stadium in 2018, AFL Media making profits (and when the Age goes behind a pay wall expect that to soar), full ownership of Etihad edging closer and closer.

That last point is the big one. Ownership of that stadium will make the AFL juggernaut become an unstoppable collosus.

You're right Dave, it's all doom an gloom for the AFL lol.

Takes a fair bit of $$$$ to look after and continually update/upgrade/replace parts of stadiums.

Good luck, as it's hard to come up with the money at times and your ground can be run into it literally.

Sure there's costs involved of course, but that's nothing compared to the money that the AFL will be making off of Etihad Stadium in just over 10 years time. =D>

Would've been better off keeping one of the old grounds with a bigger capacity so you could hire it out when the big boys of world tours (bands and shit) come out here. Having a roof over the joint will add heaps of $$$$ over the years to look after.

That's my opinion anyway.
