Exactly eel, 2 seasons ago, Newcastle had 4.5k members, this season they hit 20k and this year they look to be on track to beat their record from this season.
It'll take some time, but eventually the culture will change.

Re: AFL Vs NRL (Memberships in 2013)
There have been many times an AFL team has been in financial trouble. But none have needed a billionaire to save them. All have been resurrected by members and financial strategy. This will happen again and again.Raiderdave wrote:run into the groundXman wrote:And when they're run into the ground again theyll need another billionaire to come and save the againRaiderdave wrote:

Face it. The AFL have more followers and these people are prepared to save their club. The NRL rely on saviours because the fans just aren't interested unless its on TV

Just like many teams before them they will be saved by financial strategies and members. The only exception to this in AFL VFl history is the lions, and they merged. Even clubs like Collingwood, hawthorn and Carlton have had their financial troubles. But with such Incredible following they were never going to fall over. Now they are super clubs
Unlike the NRL where if clubs arent saved by billionaires or consortiums they just fold
