Marcus has had a little willy whacking fit today about the VFL's supposed number of " leagues " throughout NSW

of which there are 23 .. according him
a league is a competition involving clubs
a club is a collection of teams

I understand VFL age comps start at Under 10's ...
so lets say there are 7 junior age groups ( 10's to 16's) & 3 senior age groups ( 18's , res & 1st ) for all 23 Leagues in NSW
thats 230 comps throughout NSW
& lets say theres 10 teams in every comp ... meaning theres 2300 teams in NSW

theres 28,500 regsitered club players in NSW in 2012 according to their own website
http://aflnswact.com.au/index.php?id=5& ... 0ae8aeeff2

meaning theres
12 players a team on average 8-[ :-k

how can there be 23 functioning leagues
& only 28K players in them

more VFL BS at work here folks
its hilarious
The answer is in the link you posted dopey! 60k school participants

So youre assuming every club in every league has 10 age groups?

While we're on this topic, got any link for your claim of 2600 registered RL players in Victoria Dave? :-k

This yr 2000 research into RL participation for adults shows 90% comes from NSW/QLD, ACT. And NT have about a thousand people each, or less, and the other states don't even register a player on the graph!

oh .. we've lost one folks , its now 22 , not 23 ... did one fold in the last few hours marcus ? :-k

ten sides a comp is about the average
some bigger .. some smaller ....

but as I've pointed out ... either its a lot less then this
or sides are running around in singlets & tight shorts ... well under manned

seems the number of .... Leagues .. is no indicator of anything of note eh ?

juniors only , so what D head .... the total number wouldn't be 10,000 all up ( junior /senior) in Sydney anyway. ( 28500 in all of NSW) , hardly anything to whack ones willy about considering the money spent in attracting new players & the amount of time the sport has been played in NSW/ Sydney
I'd say there were already 20,000 vicky kicky players in NSW when the Swines came to Sydney in 1982
meaning growth results have been pathetic at best

RL has only really been played with any real purpose in Melb since the 1980's
& when the Storm started up in 1998 there were only a few hundred players

there are now 2,600 registered club RL players in Victoria ( all in Melb ) & thats with 1/100th of the money spent

whats gunna happen when the commission actually throws some money at participation in the non heartland states
when they take oztag ( a great little non contact version of RL for boys & girls ) to schools in Vic SA & WA
:-k .. be afraid
be very afraid

you need 1000 to make the ABS participation list
thered be about 30 senior RL teams in Melb ... so only about 600 adult players
but as we've established .. theres only about 2500 senior vicky kicky players in Sydney as well
& half of them were there prior to 1982
meaning .... not many more adults have taken up fumbling bumbling & missing in Sydney in 30 years
then the same for RL in Melbourne in less then half that time , & we also haven't spent any money on trying to attract them .. while the VFL have spent tens of millions.. hundreds of millions in fact

wow
how embarrasing for the victorian game :-k

So wait 10 RL clubs have 260 players each on average. Thats roughly 18-20 sides per club. I call BS.

Wow, Melbourne just hates that poor man's rugby hey. I suppose they just prefer real sports like football and even union

Little wonder they're known as the sporting capital of the world when sports like lacrosse are more popular than rugby league :(/ :(/ :(/
