well for starters you moron, this thread is about a persons opinion about his experience with junior sport in his area. Why the hell would you raise a different report?

Secondly, the recent report into junior numbers in NSW suggested Auskick was taking players away from junior clubs. It never said they were down over all.

The report says: ''In the chase for participant numbers in NSW and ACT, a shortened and often subsidised version of Auskick has been aggressively rolled out in primary schools (In-School Auskick) and after-school centres (Community Auskick) … Junior club feedback has indicated that the In-School and Community versions have, at times, harmed Club Auskick

The report doesn't dispute the growth in numbers let alone suggest theyre dropping. It says that a shortened version of after school or in school Auskick is taking numbers away from club Auskick.

So, where's your evidence Dave? :-k

The report says: ''With the growth of senior numbers halving (from 8 per cent to 4 per cent), under-18s growth dropping from 12 per cent to 4 per cent and significantly more 100-point victories in 2012 in U18 division 1 and premier divisions, there appears good reason to maintain a watching brief.''

The growth rate is dropping but overall grow is still in a positive direction about 4% for both senior and junior club divisions. Aus kick growth is much higher. Also the junior club numbers being 7694 players is a great number for Sydney in my opinion.

No it's not, the thread is about the Vfl getting into the private schools where Rugby Union is played, it has absolutely nothing to do with Rugby League.

In fact, the lying ****** who wrote it doesn't even mention Rugby "League" once, he says "both codes" the one time only.

As he bloody well knows which comes back to being a liar, that the code not mentioned but is hinted at, isn't even played at any of these schools, so why lump a certain sport in with his lot when he can't even bring himself to mention its name and puts the game in a place where it obviously isn't?

AFL is surging into Sydney schools and Waverley College students have joined the wave of players keen to be part of the next generation of Sydney Swans.

Johnny Pawle, 12, will be part of the first team of Waverley students to play AFL in the blue and yellow guernsey as the college joins other independent schools in the Years 7 and 8 winter AFL competition next year.

Johnny already plays for Easts Bulldogs but is looking forward to representing his school in what he describes as "the best sport in the world".

"I play soccer in winter now, but AFL is the best sport," he said.

"We have a few good players already who will be in the team next year, so we should do pretty well.

"It's a fast-moving game, there's so much happening, so it will be good to be able to play AFL for school."

A right-footed centre-half forward, Johnny has already impressed local scouts and has been identified as a talented player and awarded a place in the Sydney Swans Academy.

Six independent schools will add AFL to their weekend winter sport program next year, including Waverley College, Trinity Grammar, Knox Grammar, Cranbrook, St Ignatius' College and St Pat's Strathfield.

Competitions will be run for Years 5/6 and Years 7/8 from May next year.
