Got no problems with the Swans having a bit more money to cover the extra cost of living in Sydney. maybe this is another reason why the Storm dominate because it is cheaper and nicer to live in the worlds most livable city.

What a joke!

and this is a surprise how exactly ?
its a commercial reality even our CEO has admitted is "understandable "

the Raiders would obviously like more games on FTA
but will be content counting their millions in profits from their other business activities to help them sleep at night

meanwhile
port crapelaide .. with 22 FTA games & many other VFL clubs .. like the wions
will be crying themselves to sleep at night , wondering where their next penny will be coming from
Its a commercial reality is it? No, its an nRL reality. They get shocking FTa coverage and basically sellout to CH9 for top dollar. The AFL could have got heaps more if they had have demanded west coast, crows, Collingwood and Essendon were shown every prime time game. They didnt and settled for less money for the good of their game.

As for port and the lions, their next dollar comes from better sponsorship due to better FTa exposure.

The lions made 11M from corporate sales and sponsorship in 2011 http://www.lions.com.au/Portals/0/lions ... %20ART.pdf
Isnt that about the Raiders entire annual football budget?

every game for the budgies & pidgeons are shown in prime time in WA & SA
& collinsford & essenthongs do as well as the Broncos in the first 20 rounds on FTA ... 11 games

the VFL could not have got a penny more then they did

as for the paddle pop wions & pork swordelide
maybe they need to think about peanut butter sanwiches & cottees lime cordial at their functions
because ... pretty soon
thats all they'll be able to afford

Don't be so quick to jump guys, if the Raiders are having a good season, ch 9 still has the last 6 rounds leading into the finals, open.
They had a good season this year, did they not? What makes you think anything will change come the last 6 games with the nRL scheduling? AFL fans would be up in arms if Collingwood got 17 Friday night games and a team that finished above them on the ladder only had 1 game on FTA. We don't accept that shit though like nRL fans do.
ah no c head .... they had a good finish
but they were still equal 2nd last ... at round 18

VFL fans don't know how to get .. up in arms about anything
if they did , they'd do something about how their comp is geared toward the sides in the non traditional states

it is obscene that a side like the swines are given an extra million to use in the salary cap .. still .. after 30 years
& seriously
why don't the VFL force teams that play the midgets & thuns .. to play with one arm tied behind their backs , as that'd be fairer then the help these 2 are getting to " compete" in the VFL.

VFL... a joke
Exactly as pies said. They deserve a % more on their salary cap because Sydney is the most expensive place to live in Australia. The Storm and QLD players benefit from living outside NSW. No wonder theyve dominated recent seasons.

No you dunce. EVERY AFL side does as well as the Broncos. Thats the point! The NRLs shocking FTA deal is grossly weighted towards the Broncos and NO OTHER TEAM. Clubs like the Raiders are screwed over despite success on the field.

But blind NRL supporters just follow along.

Based on this ridiculous premise ... the NRL's 9 Sydney clubs should all get more money to spend of their players salaries , its a crock & only designed to keep NSW sides competitive by giving them an advantage....
if Melb was a more expensive city to live in ... would the VFL give its ten clubs 1 million more each to spend ... of course it wouldn't.

NRL players go to the Storm to play at a successful professional football club.. they would accept less to do so as it enhances their chances of representative football & the personal glory that goes with it.

If VFL players are only looking at what price it is to buy a 3 beddie at North Mead when the swines offer them a contract ,like its a .. tad .. more expensive to go there ..so they would consider not going to play at a succesful club that will help their career & earn them more money further down the track
then they are passionless .. unprofessional ..... grubs

a 350K contract in Sydney ... or a 350K contract at the western bullfrogs
are we expected to believe a player will feel disadvantaged by going to Sydney

wow what a comprehension FAIL!

Its a comparison moron!

The majority of AFL teams are located OUTSIDE NSW where the cost of living is less. There to even out the "effective" salary caps the simplest way is to increase the cap for the Giants and Swans. Therefore only 2 out of 18 clubs require change. Not to mention the fact that NSW is an expansion state so the majority of players drafted to the swans will be required to relocate. It only makes sense they do not suffer relocation upheaval plus a financial penalty.

Where as the majority of NRL clubs are in NSW so the simplest way to even out the "effective" caps is to decrease caps outside NSW. Therefore only 5 of 16 clubs require change.

Dumbass

Poor Suns and GWS banned from being shown Ch7 in there own state for 5 years, While West Coast is shown every week in theres :-k something has to be wrong here.
Their not banned from ch7. The agreement was to show AFL on 7mate to qld and nsw, just like NRl is on gem to AFL states.

Every AFL gets a decent go on FTA TV, even better if they make the 8. The suns and giants are shown on FTA 20 times the number of times the raiders are in the first 20 rounds last year!

Interesting how youre defending it but the raiders and other clubs are furious... #-o[/quote]

The Suns/GWS would get far, far less exposure on a secondary channel than on PTV. Is'nt that the whole idea of it?

And yes they are banned, Not to be shown on the main channel for 5 years - signed Kerry Stokes. I guess D just rolled over and went for the money, At the very same time the NRL are dictating to CH 9 about greater exposure for the Storm.... Who licks who's balls.

The finances of every expansion club in either code is precarious. The storm only survive on handouts from news ltd. At least the AFL have the funds to support expansion clubs. What happens when news ltd lose interest?

the reasons FTA coverage is preferred is twofold:
1. more exposure because more people have access to FA, even 2nd digital channels.

2. free viewership for fans and potential fans

As for the AFL rolling over, what are you on? Every team in WA, SA, NSW and QLD is on FA every week. Last year the AFL was only on TV in NSW and QLD maybe twice a weekend. Now their are 4 live games, BETTER than the NRL in their own homeland!

The Storm are on gem in Victoria, not CH9 [-X They got, what less than 8 FTA games in to Melbourne last year? Yeah, theyre doing well!

Who cares, with less games and less teams in emerging states, RL has trumped the vFL's biggest TV deal.

Game set and match.

the only reason the nrl got close is because they sold control, hence this discussion
