Re: NRL and AFL cross promotion
Expansion outside the metropolitan area is where I'm going with it! NRL has Newcastle, Wollongong and Canberra and will have Central Coast!Xman wrote:Not sure where youre going with this? I never said they copied everything, just a number. It would be foolish to suggest otherwise.Striker wrote:Oh yeah! So where's the AFL's team in Ballarat or Bendigo? Where is it in Tasmania even??
Re: NRL and AFL cross promotion
Have we got the money to pay the rent? YES! Small crowds don't stop that. We have owners with money!Xman wrote:Have you got the money to pay the rent? With crowds of less than 20k youd be lucky to pay the rent.Striker wrote:Well? Why won't they allow us what we want?Xman wrote:tin foil hat man strikes again.
Oh, and the weather, the Mayor, the media, etc etc.
How would the NRL fit into a busy Etihad schedule when they use the stadium so regularly?
The AFL are Etihad's major client. Why would they go out of their way to accomodate the NRL, especially if they struggle to pay the rent?
How would the NRL fit into a busy Etihad schedule when they use the stadium so regularly? Easy - tell the AFL to shift it's poor pulling games to Visy Park so that we can have access.
But they won't do it because they know that if they make room for us, we'll pull bigger crowds than we are now and they'll be threatened!

Re: NRL and AFL cross promotion
You dumb fuck, Visy Park is no longer fit for professional sport now that it's mainly just Carlton's training base. Having said that, Visy Park is probably still fit for nRL, and I'm sure it would allow them to make some money playing there. There's nothing stopping the nRL from scheduling some matches at Etihad as they know when the AFL is and isn't scheduled there. Etihad is owned by investors, not the AFL... yet, so there would be no issues scheduling a rugby game there. But the nRL and the Storm would not want to play there... why? Because they already have a rectangular stadium with the necessary capacity (probably too big for the Storm, but still) to play at.Striker wrote:Xman wrote:How would the NRL fit into a busy Etihad schedule when they use the stadium so regularly? Please just shit the fuck up with your crap excuses like security at Etihad etc. You're not fooling anyone and I think you're also embarrassing other nRL fans in the process. I'm sure Raiderdave and Parra would not show up just because of "security", but hey maybe I'm wrong. nRL fans are fickle and if you're anything to go by Striker, they're also fucking soft.

Most teams with crowds below 20K make a loss at Etihad. Im sure the management there are real keen for the Storm to play there and lose money each time

You have your purpose built stadium. Stop your girly cries about rain and wind and go FFS!
